Yakima Valley College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews.

Nursing Program

The Yakima Valley College, Nursing Training program, offers an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) that is six quarters in duration. The training program provides an array of learning opportunities and consists of experiences in Gerontological Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrical Nursing, Oncology Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Emergency Nursing.

Upon successful completion of the 4th quarter of the ADN training program, a student will be qualified to take the Practical Nursing Exam provided by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.

Upon successful completion of the sixth quarter, a student will be qualified to take the Registered Nurse Examination provided by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (QAC).

The Yakima Valley College Nursing training program is completely certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and is endorsed by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.

Yakima Valley College is a public, two (2) year institution of higher education which is a part of the most effective comprehensive community college systems in the country. For this reason, the institution offers programs in adult basic education, English as an alternate Language, professional and technical education, lower division arts and sciences, and community services. The college also offers bachelor of applied science degrees in business management, dental hygiene, and information technology.

Total program cost is USD $8,200

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

  • 80% (or 80 points) is allocated for cumulative GPA in the 8 required entry courses. Repeated course grades are averaged. ie. , PSYC&100 with a “C” the first time and an “A” the second will have the value of a “B” or 3.0 when used to calculate GPA points.
  • 10% (or 10 points) is allocated for TEAS test score (calculation) (ie., a score of 78% on the Adjusted Individual Total Score, is equivalent to 7.8 points.)
  • Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all required nursing program course work. No grade below a “C” will be accepted in any required or elective course.
