Washington State Community College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews

Nursing Program                   

Graduates of the Associate Degree Nursing training program in Washington State Community College earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and are in a position to sit for state licensure examinations (NCLEX-RN).

Associate Degree Nurses provide continuing care and also support, promote good health, as well as manage all aspects of patient care. The program permits educational and career mobility for pupils. In addition to broad career alternatives, graduates may decide to transfer and continue their studies towards a baccalaureate degree in nursing (B.S.N.), or advanced practice nursing (M.S.N.).

Pupils accepted for institution admission may apply for admission to the training program and may complete all courses in 5 sequential semesters. Licensed Practical Nurses who meet the requirements for advanced placement may complete the training program in 3 to 4 sequential semesters.

About The School

Washington State Community College is a two (2) year community college situated in Marietta, the county seat of Washington County, Ohio, United States. It was founded in the year 1971 as Washington Technical College.

Total estimated program cost is USD $16,120

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  1. Complete application for admission to Washington state community college.
  2. Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate.
  3. Submit an official high school transcript or GED certificate, and official transcript from any college(s) attended.
  4. Complete application form for the associate degree nursing program w/admission essay by stated deadline.
  5. Take the required college placement test: COMPASS and submit scores ( complete all deficits). COMPASS not needed for students who have completed pre-requisites English and math courses.
  6. Submit ACT or SAT scores, or submit TEAS entrance exam scores ( ACT of 20 or higher required; or SAT of 950 or higher on verbal & math components; TEAS exam score of proficiency or higher), ACT/SAT/TEAS not required for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree.
  7. Provide three (3) non-family references.
  8. complete essential skills form, confidentiality agreement, and the nursing selection committee release form.
  9. complete BIO 0955 & BIO 095L (or equivalent) with a “C” or above.
  10. complete CHEM 0955 & CHEM 095L (or equivalent) with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program.
  11. MATH 0955 (or equivalent with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program.
  12. complete all academic prerequisites with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program
  13. GPA of 2.5 or higher when applying, and upon program entry.

LPN-ADN ADVANCE

  1. Complete application for admission to washington state community college.
  2. must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate.
  3. submit an official high school transcript or GED certificate, and official transcript from any college(s) attended.
  4. complete application form for the associate degree nursing program w/admission essay by stated deadline.
  5. complete BIO 0955 & BIO 095L (or equivalent) with a “C” or above.
  6. complete ENGL 1510 (or higher) and MATH 0955 (or higher) with a grade of “C” or above
  7. submit ACT or SAT scores, or submit TEAS entrance exam scores ( ACT of 20 or higher required; or SAT of 950 or higher on verbal & math components; TEAS exam score of proficiency or higher), ACT/SAT/TEAS not required for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree.
  8. provide three (3) non-family references.
  9. complete BIO 0955 & BIO 095L (or equivalent) with a “C” or above.
  10. complete CHEM 0955 & CHEM 095L (or equivalent) with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program.
  11. complete PSYC 1010 and PSYC 2700 (or equivalent) with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program.
  12. complete all academic prerequisites with a “C” or above prior to entry into the program
  13. GPA of 2.5 or higher when applying, and upon program entry.
