Nursing program

  • Walsh University’s Nursing programs prepare pupils for a career as a registered nurse, offering a strong academic training program that’s grounded in real-world experience and also Judeo-Christian values.
  • BSN Pre-Licensure Training program – a 4-year training program for individuals who want to earn a degree and also become licensed registered nurses. Walsh University College of Nursing is certified by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

About the school

  • Walsh University is a non-public non-profit, 4-year, Roman Catholic institution in North Canton, Ohio, United States. In 2014, there were roughly 2,864 students. It was established in the year 1960 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, originally as a liberal arts college. Walsh College became Walsh University in 1993.
  • The University offers over 70 majors, and also seven graduate programs including a Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Occupational Therapy and also Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Walsh University has satellite campuses in Akron, Canfield, Medina, and Castel Gandolfo, Italy. The Newman Guide approves it to Choosing a Catholic College.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

BSN Pre-Licensure Admission Criteria

There are two categories of admission to the pre-licensure BSN program:

  • Direct Admit – students who are invited to scholarship day and/or enrolled in the Honors Program will be directly admitted into the nursing major upon admission to Walsh University.
  • Pre-Nursing – students are admitted to Walsh University as Pre-Nursing majors.

Students must complete the following courses with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or better in order to progress to the nursing major:

  • BIO 209 Anatomy & Physiology I
  • BIO 209L Anatomy & Physiology I Lab
  • BIO 210 Anatomy & Physiology II
  • BIO 210L Anatomy & Physiology II Lab
  • CHEM 109 General Organic and Biochemistry I
  • CHEM 109L General Organic and Biochemistry I Lab
  • CHEM 110 General Organic and Biochemistry II
  • CHEM 110L General Organic and Biochemistry II Lab
  • NURS 220 Theoretical Concepts of Nursing
