Nursing program

  • The RN- BS sequence is for students presently certified to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). The RN to BS option permits a Registered Nurse with a diploma or an associate’s degree in nursing from a regionally approved institution to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing (BSN).
  • To be able to finish this degree in 4 years, it is suggested that pupils stick to the designated eight-semester
  • The Second Bachelor’s Degree (SBN) OPTION is built for students that have a baccalaureate degree in a different field including a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00. Students with an awarded bachelor’s degree and also who have finished all the nursing pre-requisite courses might be considered for admittance into the 2nd Bachelor’s Degree option; upon completion, pupils will obtain a second bachelor’s degree. It is a full-time limited access training program, as mandated by the state, and is organized Admission is competitive.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

RN-BSN

  1. Admission to the University of South Florida (Tampa Campus).
  2. Associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Nursing diplomas from a School of Nursing will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  3. An overall GPA of 2.50 or higher on all undergraduate work (excluding Associate of Science Nursing courses).
  4. Must reside in the state of Florida with evidence of current Florida RN licensure in good standing. (Exemption: Those who reside in the state of Pennsylvania.)
  5. The College of Nursing requires completion of the following courses prior to application:
  • ENC 1101 English Composition I
  • ENC 1102 English Composition II
  1. RN Credit Validation – Per the state articulation agreement, Nursing course credit hours earned for the ASN will be validated for credit based on successful competency demonstration upon enrollment.

Second Bachelor’s Degree

  1. Admission to the University of South Florida (Tampa Campus).
  2. Completion of a first bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, by the published application deadline for the term of entry.
  3. Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA on all undergraduate work.
  4. The state-mandated Nursing common course prerequisites are required to be completed before the published application deadline for the intended term of entry. A grade of “C” or better is required.
  5. Application to the College of Nursing prior to the published deadline for the intended term of entry.
  6. The College of Nursing requires completion o the following courses prior to application:
  • ENC 1101 English Composition I
  • ENC 1102 English Composition II
  1. A personal interview may also be required.
