Nursing Program
The Associate of Science in Nursing program will train you for entry-level nursing practice as a nurse generalist. In the ASN program, you will cultivate caring behaviors and service-oriented and in clinical practice by identifying, responding to and regarding care as the base for the profession of nursing.
You will assimilate concepts from the social, physical and behavioral sciences, and humanities with nursing skill and evidence-based training. Using the nursing course as an analytical thinking framework, you will understand how to provide quality, individualized and safe nursing care to families and patients within a community context. The nursing graduate will be able to care for a range of patients across their lifetime and healthcare continuum in critical , long-term care, and community-based settings.
Upon the successful completion of your Associate of Science degree, you will be eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

The University of Saint Francis is a noninterventionist arts university situated in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. It is Affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, thereby promoting Franciscan and Catholic values.
The school presently enrolls almost 300 graduate students and above 1,800 undergraduate students most of which are from states in the American Midwest, mainly Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.

Your application will be evaluated based on a point system to determine whether you will be accepted as a pre-nursing or nursing student. The point system used by the Nursing Admissions Committee is available upon request.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
To earn an ASN from USF, you must complete a minimum of 26 credit hours in Nursing courses at USF.
Once you are admitted to a Nursing program at USF, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7, achieve a “B-” or better in all nursing theory courses, achieve a “P” in all nursing clinical courses and earn a grade of “C” or better in all required non-nursing courses.
ADULT STUDENTS
To apply to an undergraduate Nursing program at USF as an adult student (24 years of age or older), you must have:
- Graduated from an accredited high school with a GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- If you did not graduate from high school, you must have completed the General Education Development (GED) tests with a combined total battery score of 2,500 with no subtest score below 500.
- SAT or ACT scores from high school that would be equivalent to the current requirement of 1,000 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT.
- Successfully completed, with a grade of “C” or better, one year of high school algebra and biology, and one year of high school chemistry with a grade of “B-” or better.
- Have completed the TEAS.
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE STUDENTS
If you would like to apply to the Licensed Practical Nurse to Associate of Science in Nursing (LPN-ASN) program at USF, you must:
- Meet all university entrance requirements for transfer students.
- Submit a current active LPN license.
- Have a GPA of 2.7 or higher from the LPN program attended.
- If you graduated from a non-accredited LPN program and meet all other minimum admission requirements, you will be eligible for admission as a Pre-Nursing student.
- Have completed the TEAS.

TRADITIONAL STUDENTS
A traditional student is considered to be someone who is under age 24 with no previous college or university experience.
To apply to an undergraduate Nursing program as a traditional student, you must graduate from an accredited high school and:
- Have a GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Earn a Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) recentered score of 1,000 or above or an American College Test (ACT) composite score of 21 or above.
- Successfully complete, with a grade of “C” or better, one year of high school algebra and biology, and one year of high school chemistry with a grade of “B-” or better.
- Complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).
