Nursing Program
The Associate of Science in Nursing program will train you for entry-level nursing practice as a nurse generalist. In the ASN program, you will cultivate caring behaviors and service-oriented and in clinical practice by identifying, responding to and regarding care as the base for the profession of nursing.
You will assimilate concepts from the social, physical and behavioral sciences, and humanities with nursing skill and evidence-based training. Using the nursing course as an analytical thinking framework, you will understand how to provide quality, individualized and safe nursing care to families and patients within a community context. The nursing graduate will be able to care for a range of patients across their lifetime and healthcare continuum in critical, long-term care, and community-based settings.
Upon the successful completion of your Associate of Science degree, you will be eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Situated in Crown Point, Indiana, USF Crown Point was designed to serve students from the greater Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana and. It may not be feasible for you to move across the state, but it is possible to receive a high-quality USF education close to home.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
A point system is used to evaluate applications of qualified candidates in order to accept applicants into the program as either a pre-nursing or nursing major. The point system used by the Nursing Program Admissions Committee will be provided to an applicant upon request.
TRADITIONAL STUDENTS (UP TO AGE 24)
- Graduate from an accredited high school.
- Have a 2.7 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Have Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) scores from high school that would be equivalent to the current requirement of 1000 SAT or 21 ACT.
- Have successfully completed (“C” or better) one year of high school algebra and biology and one year of high school chemistry with a grade of “B-” or better.
- Take the nursing entrance examination TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills).
ADULT STUDENTS (25 YEARS AND OLDER)
- Graduate from an accredited high school.
- Have a 2.7 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Students who did not graduate from high school must have completed the General Education Development (GED) tests with a combined total battery GED score of 2500 with no sub-test score below 500.
- Have successfully completed (“C” or better) one year of high school algebra and biology and one year of high school chemistry with a “B-” or better.
- Take the nursing entrance examination TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills).
TRANSFER STUDENTS
- Meet university entrance requirements for transfer students.
- Have a minimum transfer cumulative GPA of 2.7.
- Have successfully completed (“C” or better) one year of high school algebra and biology and one year of high school chemistry with a grade of “B-” or better or one semester of college level algebra, chemistry and biology with a grade of “C” or better.
- Only nursing courses with a grade of “B-” or better can be considered for transfer credit.
- A minimum of 26 credit hours in nursing must be taken at the University of Saint Francis to be awarded an associate degree in nursing.
- Take the nursing entrance examination TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills).
