Nursing program
- The BSN training program grooms graduates for professional nursing practice and also graduate study.
- Graduates meet the requirements to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- The BSN training program is offered in a traditional 4-year structure with nursing courses focused in the junior and also senior years. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing training program is also offered in an accelerated structure, and also there is an exclusive track for Associate Degree and diploma prepared nurses.
- Students with a previous degree can apply to the Accelerated pathway or perhaps the Traditional pathway. Pupils without a previous degree can apply to the Traditional path.

- The University of South Alabama, formally nicknamed “South” is a public, national research institution in Mobile, Alabama, United States Of America.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Enrollment into the pre-professional component as a nursing major does not assure the student admission to the Professional Component. Enrollment in the Professional Component is limited and competitive. Students are admitted without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, or qualified disability. Students must be in good standing with all academic institutions/nursing programs that they have attended in order to be admitted to the BSN program:
- Submission of a completed application with a $50 fee.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75 on all prerequisite courses and in good standing within the University.
- Minimum University GPA of 2.5.
- Minimum grade of “C” in all pre-professional courses.
- Submission of health data forms and evidence of health insurance.
- Evidence of CPR certification.
- Admission will be contingent on a negative drug screen and results of an acceptable background check.
- Interview – applicants may be invited for a personal interview. Verbal and written communication skills will be assessed during the interview.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE ACCELERATED BSN/MSN TRACK
Admission is selective and competitive. The curriculum is intensive and fast paced. The College of Nursing reserves the right to select students determined to be the best qualified and most likely to succeed in this challenging graduate program in nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate program with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must have completed all prerequisite course work as listed below with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (“A”=4.0) and no grade less than a “C”.

- EH 102- English Composition II
- Biology with Lab
- Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab
- Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab
- Microbiology or Infectious Disease
- Statistics
- Finite Math or Precalculus algebra (or higher)
- Chemistry with Lab
- General Psychology
- Submission of completed application by March 15 for Fall admission (July) and July 15 for Spring admission (January) .
- Payment of $50.00 non-refundable application fee.
- Submission of Health Data Forms and evidence of health insurance.
- Admission will be contingent on a negative drug screen and results of an acceptable background check.
- Submission of a resume.
- Interview – after initial review of applications a limited number of applicants may be invited for a personal interview. Verbal and written communication skills will be assessed during the interview.
