University of New Hampshire BSN Nursing Reviews

Nursing program

  • The nursing curriculum is divided into biological, social sciences, and also humanities as a basis for courses in the major; and also nursing courses, which emphasize relationship-based care, clinical decision making, reflective thinking, and the utilization of evidence-based guidelines to develop quality and also safe clinical skills. Clinical experiences are offered in local hospitals and community health organizations. The senior year culminates in a capstone practicum in which pupils apply curriculum concepts in a precepted clinical experience.
  • The faculty of the nursing training program believes learning is a creative process wherein pupils are active individuals in their education, growth, and also development as professional nurses. Faculty members are facilitators and also mentors to students within a caring, scholarly environment. Honors-in-major courses are offered to serious nursing pupils who have achieved at least grade-point average of 3.75 in NURS courses and also cumulative GPA of 3.4, or perhaps nursing students who are in the University Honors Training program, at the end of the sophomore year in nursing.

About the school

  • New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts was established and also incorporated in the year 1866, as a land-grant school in Hanover in connection with Dartmouth College, United States. In the year 1893, NHC relocated to Durham, where it became the University of New Hampshire in 1923, by an act of the New Hampshire General Court.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • A grade of C or better in high school chemistry and biology or chemistry and physics is required.
  • Undergraduate nursing students must earn a minimum of 128 credits
  • Prerequisite courses require a grade of C or better.
  • Most of the pre-requisite courses also meet university discovery requirements.
  • Only one pre-requisite course may be repeated once with approved petition in order to progress.
  • Major courses require a minimum grade of C.
  • Nursing courses may not be repeated.
  • A cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 or better must be maintained throughout the program.
  • Each program level must be successfully completed prior to advancing to next the level.
  • Prior approval is required for courses taken outside UNH.
  • Students who are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree program must attain the last one-quarter (32 credits) of total credits for the degree in residence (at UNH).
