Nursing program

  • This track is for first-year students nursing students (college juniors and above) who wish to prepare for a profession in nursing while earning a BSN. Upon graduation from the training program, pupils will sit for the NCLEX licensing examination for RNs. The curriculum provides a solid scientific base of study with a wide selection of clinical experiences and also exclusive opportunities to work with susceptible and also underserved populations.
  • The training program is community-based in that it supports engagement with the community all through the nursing major by fostering and also building relationships with community agencies constantly over time via a revolutionary home-basing of pupils in a specified community for the whole period of their nursing training The Prelicensure BSN track admits for the summer (May start) and also fall (August start) yearly.
  • The Accelerated Prelicensure BSN is for individuals already holding a baccalaureate degree in a different field of study who wish to prepare for a career in nursing while earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The Accelerated Prelicensure track is focused and can be accomplished in four (4) successive semesters of regular study, or roughly 14 months. Upon graduation from the training program, pupils will sit for the NCLEX licensing examination for RNs.
  • The nursing training program is completely certified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and also endorsed by the Florida Board of Nursing.

About the school

  • The University of North Florida is a public institution in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. An associate institution of the State University System of Florida, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, certifies the school to honor baccalaureate, masters and also doctorate degrees to its college students.
  • The institution was established in the year 1969 after 1,000 acres midway between downtown Jacksonville along with the Jacksonville Beaches were allocated for the campus, 500 acres of which were donated by the Skinner family of Jacksonville.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  1. Satisfy UNF General Education & Gordon Rule requirements prior to program matriculation with:
    1. Sixty (60) semester hours of courses with the satisfaction of UNF General Education & Gordon Rule Writing per the UNF catalog

-OR-

  1. An Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from a Florida public institution;
  1. Maintain a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.90;
  2. Complete of all BSN prerequisite courses with no grade lower than “C” and a prerequisite GPA of at least 2.90 (see FAQs for more details regarding GPA and prerequisite course policies)
  3. Complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS ®) version V or VI (scores are comparably scaled) within the last five (5) years with a minimum score of 300.00 and the submission of the TEAS Individual Performance Profiles (IPPs) directly to the program by the deadline
  4. Complete the supplemental program application with submission directly to the program by the deadline.

*Completion of admission requirements does not guarantee an interview or admission to the program.

The Accelerated Prelicensure BSN

  1. Graduate from a regionally accredited institution with a baccalaureate degree prior to matriculation in the program
  2. Maintain a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.20
  3. Complete of all nursing prerequisite courses with no grade lower than “C” and a prerequisite GPA of at least 2.90 (see FAQs for more details regarding GPA and prerequisite course policies)
  4. Complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) version V or VI (scores are comparably scaled) within the past five (5) years with a minimum score of 300.00 and the submission of the TEAS Individual Performance Profiles (IPPs) directly to the program by the deadline
  5. Complete of the supplemental program application with submission directly to the program by the deadline
