Trocaire Institution offers associate and also bachelor’s degree programs along with one-year certificate programs which specialize in health-care, hospitality, technology and also human resources. Trocaire has an outlet site, the Russell J. Salvatore School of Hospitality & Business, situated in Williamsville, New York City. Enrollment is around 1300 pupils.
The institution was established in the year 1958 by the Sisters of Mercy as Sancta Maria College, a sisters’ institution. In the year 1965, the institution started admitting lay women, accompanied by men in the year 1972. The name was modified to Trocaire College in the year 1967, with the new naming originating from the Irish term for “mercy.”

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- High School Diploma (minimum 85% average) or GED Diploma with a minimum score of 2750
- 75 cumulative average with minimum grades of “C” in all courses for current & transfer students
- All candidates for the Nursing program must take the ACCUPLACER test and the TEAS test
- Algebra ACCUPLACER score of 58 or higher, Biology, and Chemistry
- Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab is a pre-professional requirement that must be successfully completed prior to the first semester’s nursing course work
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required prior to clinical experiences
- Students applying for programs in the health professions are required to participate in two stages of academic preparedness. Initial admittance to a health science program places a student into a “pre-professional” component. Admittance into the “professional” component is not guaranteed. Students must meet established academic standards and are also ranked for admission to the nursing programs based on their cumulative grade point average, grades in Anatomy & Physiology I Lecture & Lab, and the TEAS scores (see Ranking Criteria for the Professional Component). Students should speak with an Admissions counselor or the Program Director prior to registration to insure they understand all of the academic requirements for advancement in the program of their choice.
