Nursing Program
The Associate Degree Nursing training program in Trident Technical College demands a minimum of 2 years to complete. A graduate of the Associate Degree Nursing training program is qualified to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). Upon satisfactory completion of the assessment, graduates are identified as Registered Nurses (RN).
The ADN training program has three options for student completion: the Generic Option, the Accelerated Option as well as the Licensed Practical Nursing to ADN Option. The ADN training program is evaluated for certification by the following agency the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Apply to Trident Technical College. You must meet all general college admission requirements. Please be sure to submit your application before the application deadline of the semester you would like to enroll.
- Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, colleges and universities previously attended. Students who have had a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0 for courses taken at any college they have attended during the last five years must complete 10 semester hours with a minimum grade of C or better in each course, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. At least one of these courses must be a required laboratory science. Laboratory sciences must be taken within five years of the entry date to the program.
- Meet one of the following three admission options (a, b or c) before applying to the program.
- Hold an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.*
- Achieve a minimum composite score equivalent to the 60th percentile on the National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Exam-RN (PAX-RN). Scores are valid for two years from date of testing. Students can register at the National League for Nursing (NLN) and may re-test every six months.*
- Complete the Pre-Nursing Certificate with a minimum certificate GPA of 2.75. No more than three of the six courses required for the Pre-Nursing Certificate may be repeated to meet this admission option and all courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C.
Associate Degree: Accelerated Option Fall Semester
- Apply to Trident Technical College.You must meet all general college admission requirements. Please be sure to submit your application before the application deadline of the semester you would like to enroll.
- Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, colleges and universities previously attended. Students who have had a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0 for courses taken at any college they have attended during the last five years must complete 10 semester hours with a minimum grade of C or better in each course, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. At least one of these courses must be a required laboratory science. Laboratory sciences must be taken within five years of the entry date to the program.
- Meet one of the following admission options before applying to the program.
- Hold a baccalaureate or higher degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 from a regionally accredited school.*
- Achieve a minimum composite score equivalent to the 80th percentile on the National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Exam-RN (PAX-RN). Scores are valid for two years from date of testing. Students can register at the National League for Nursing (NLN) and may re-test every six months.*
- Complete all of the required non-nursing courses on the first attempt with a grade of C or better in each course and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and a GPA of 3.0 in the three required lab sciences.
- BIO 210 Anatomy and Physiology I (lab science)

- MAT 120 Probability and Statistics or MAT 110 College Algebra

Important Note: Lab science courses must be taken within five years at the date of entry to the Accelerated Option. Students who have been required to take developmental studies or non-degree credit courses are not eligible for this option. Students using transfer credit are responsible for knowing their repeats, grades and course equivalencies.
Advanced Placement Admission Requirements- Associate Degree: LPN to ADN
- Apply to Trident Technical College. You must meet all general college admission requirements. Please be sure to submit your application before the application deadline of the semester you would like to enroll.
- Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, colleges and universities previously attended. Students who have had a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0 for courses taken at any college they have attended during the last five years must complete 10 semester hours with a minimum grade of C or better in each course, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. At least one of these courses must be a required laboratory science. Laboratory sciences must be taken within five years of the entry date to the program.
- Meet one of the following three admission options (a, b or c) before applying to the program.
- Hold an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.*
- Achieve a minimum composite score equivalent to the 60th percentile on the National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Exam-PN (PAX-RN). Scores are valid for two years from date of testing. Students can register at the National League for Nursing (NLN) and may re-test every six months.*
- Complete the Pre-Nursing Certificate with a minimum certificate GPA of 2.75. No more than four of the six courses required for the Pre-Nursing Certificate may be repeated to meet this admission option and all courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C.*
- Achieve the required minimum score on the PN Comprehensive Predictor. Applicants will have two attempts to achieve this score and must wait 60 days between attempts. Scores are valid for two years from date of testing. To make arrangements for testing use your my.tridenttech.edu email account to contact your Nursing advisor. LPNs interested in this program should meet with a Nursing advisor to review the required Predictor score for admission.
- Provide proof of graduation from a practical nursing program by submitting official transcripts.
- Provide proof of current SC unencumbered licensure as a practical nurse.
- LPNs from another program or LPNs that have been out of TTC’s PN program for two years or more must provide an Employment Verification form validating a minimum of 960 hours (equivalent to six months full-time) employment as a LPN.
