Tidewater Community College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews

Nursing Program

Tidewater Community College A.D. nursing training program combines classroom learning, clinical experience in patient care simulators and also clinical rotations to give an extensive education.

TCC offers a Track for Licensed Practical Nurses who have graduated from specific regional institutions within the last five (5) years and also an accelerated track for Licensed Practical Nurses who have graduated from certified programs acknowledged by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Successful Completion of Course work makes the student meets the criteria to apply and take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).

About The School

Tidewater Community College also referred to as “TCC,” is a two (2) year higher education school in South Hampton Roads with campuses in Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, United States.

It is certified by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to honor the associate degree; among two (2) year institutions in the U.S., it is the 19th most significant associate degree producer. It was founded in 1968.

Total estimated program cost is USD $12,250

  • Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
  • Apply for general admission to Tidewater Community College.
  • Attend the mandatory Nursing Information Session on the Portsmouth Campus. You
  • must be on time and stay the entire session in order to meet this requirement.
  • Complete the Tidewater Community College Placement Tests for English, Reading
  • , and Mathematics at any TCC campus testing center, if needed.
  • Complete all developmental courses through MTEs 1 – 4 as a result of placement testing.
  • Complete all developmental courses indicated for ENG 111 as a result of placement testing. Complete high school chemistry, CHM 1, college-level chemistry, or BIO 150 with a grade of “C” or better prior to applying and within six years prior to beginning the first nursing course.
  • Take the Nursing Admission Assessment Exam (HESI A2) within two years prior to
  • application to thenursing program.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for courses in the nursing program’s curriculum of study.
  • Submit a complete nursing application packet to the Beazley School of Nursing. A complete application packet would include:
  1. the separate Application for Admission to the Beazley School of Nursing
  2. the Beazley School of Nursing Application Self-Assessment Form
  3. one official high school/GED transcript (in a sealed envelope)*
  4. one official college/university transcript (in a sealed envelope) from every college/university you have ever attended, except for Tidewater Community College*

(LPNs must submit a copy of current Virginia LPN license and an official LPNtranscript as part of the nursing application packet.)

    What are the typical clinical and class instruction hours for a day student in the nursing program?
