Nursing Program
The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) in Tacoma Community College program prepares the student for a career as a Registered Nurse (RN). Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the student is awarded an Associate in Applied Sciences Degree and is qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for Registered Nursing.
The training program is endorsed by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
To be able to succeed in the Tacoma Community College Nursing Program, a student must be capable of constantly performing certain physical and mental tasks in many different settings.

Tacoma Community College (TCC) is a community college situated in Tacoma, Washington, United States with satellite operations in Gig Harbor and the Bridge Training program in partnership with The Evergreen State College – Tacoma position in the 6th Avenue district. Tacoma Community College serves the city of Tacoma along with the Pierce County part of the Kitsap Peninsula. It was founded in 1965.
Voters approved Tacoma Community College establishment in 1962, and it commissioned in fall 1965. As of the year 2009, roughly half million students have attended Tacoma Community College since its commission. Tacoma Community College is certified by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is presently in the act of continued accreditation with Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities present cycle of standards.
Tacoma Community College average student age bracket is 28 years old with more than 15,000 students enrolling yearly. Tacoma Community College offers 46 state-approved vocational and technical programs with the average placement rate of 86% for pupils in their selected field as of 2009/2010 data.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
All FACTORED Prerequisites must be completed before applying to the Nursing Program. Each course must be successfully passed within two attempts to achieve a grade of “B” or higher. These attempts include all academic withdrawals and “I, WI, V and Z” as well as grades “B-” and below. There is no expiration date for prerequisites. Unsuccessful attempts more than five years old are disregarded.
- ENGL/ 095 or ENGL/ 095 and READ 095. Grade of “C” or higher.
- PSYC& 100. Grade of “C” or higher.
- CHEM& 110 or high school chemistry, MATH 095 or TMATH
- CHEM& 121 and either BIOL& 160* or BIOL& 222. CHEM 131 recommended.
- CHEM& 110 and BIOL& 160*. Grade of “C” or higher.
- BIOL& 241. Grade of “B” or higher.
- TCC is now requiring all nursing program applicants to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) exam. A minimum overall score of 70% and minimum scores in each category as follows: Reading 75%, Math 72%, Science 63%, English 70%.
