Nursing Program
The Nursing (A.A.S.) degree at Morrisville State College is a two-year degree training program which grooms pupils for entrance into the profession of nursing. Upon completion of the Associate Degree Nursing training program, pupils will satisfy the New York state specifications to sit for the National Nursing licensing examination. The nursing training program is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Morrisville’s training program consists of a combination of classroom learning and also direct patient experience where pupils have the benefit of clinical experience with a low faculty to pupil ratio. Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Nursing is a competitive program that requires students to have a strong background in biology, chemistry and math. All applications are reviewed holistically for admission to the college. It is strongly suggested that SAT and/or ACT scores be submitted.
- Minimum GPA: 2.75 for transfer students
- Placement in MATH 102
- NLN Pre-Admission test with a minimum composite score of 100 out of a possible 200
- Students who were unsuccessful in other nursing programs may not eligible for admission. Students who do not meet the admission requirements for the Nursing program may be admitted to the Liberal Arts/Science curriculum. A minimum cumulative average of 2.75 is required for admission to Nursing. Students who desire to be enrolled on a full-time basis while completing prerequisite course work may be scheduled for the following suggested plan which may include six semesters for degree completion.
