Nursing Program
Wharton County Junior College is distinctly matched to provide an outstanding learning atmosphere for the pupil aiming to pursue a career as a registered nurse (RN). A devoted faculty with outstanding clinical amenities and a challenging curriculum make the college an appropriate choice for ADN education. There are two training program tracks leading to the Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Nursing.
The ADN training program is a twenty-two (22) month training program built to prepare the traditional pupil for practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). Sugar Land Campus offers acceptance one time a year for the spring semester. Application comes out in April, and the due date is the 3rd Wednesday of August.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse-ADN Transition training program offers an accelerated track for pupils who are currently Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs). The Needed nursing courses in this path can be fulfilled a year after acceptance into the training program.
The LVN-ADN Transition training program is a face to face twenty-four (24) semester credit hour training program. There are no web-based courses. Upon completion of the needed curriculum and an extensive standardized examination in the concluding term, graduates receive the Associate of Applied Science Degree and are qualified to make application to sit and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The training program is completely endorsed by the Texas Board of Nursing.
