Nursing program

  • The entry-level, generic baccalaureate Nursing Training program (BSN) is meant for the student who wants to become a registered nurse (RN) while completing the Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. The training program concentrates on the acquisition of the knowledge and also skills essential to practice as a professional RN. Developing an understanding of theories and also concepts from the physical, social and behavioral sciences along with the humanities is emphasized. Concepts such as ethics, altruism and also communication are incorporated all through the curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to take accountability for their learning experience with assistance from faculty preceptors. The training program readies graduates to take part in a culturally diverse and also ever changing global society.
  • Pupils who began a nursing training program at a different institution and want to transfer in the sophomore or junior nursing class will be assessed on an individual basis.
  • The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education certifies the Baccalaureate degree in nursing at Stockton University.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Admission to the 4-year prelicensure program is highly competitive. Four-year nursing applicants do not require a separate application from Stockton University’s application. Please be aware that Admissions applications for this program must be postmarked by February 15. The first 4-year prelicensure class graduated in 2010.

Meeting the following minimum conditions does not guarantee acceptance.

  1. Applicants should have completed 4 years of English, 3 years of a laboratory science, 2 years of a foreign language, 2 years of math, 3 years of history and one additional academic unit prior to enrollment.
  2. SAT Math score must be at least 550 (old SAT Math)/570 (new SAT Math) and ACT MATH score of 25.
  3. 2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers or advisors are required.
  4. Special attention will be given to the strength of your high school curriculum (i.e. honors, A.P. courses)

 

Internal Transfer –

Transfer applications will only be accepted from students enrolled in Stockton University for at least one semester.  Internal transfer students will only be considered for admission into Nursing once they have met the following requirements for either fall or spring semesters.

Spring Admission

  • GPA of 3.5 from Stockton University
  • Completion of one semester of Chemistry at Stockton University with a grade of C or higher. If transferred, General Chemistry I must be a grade of B or higher.
  • An earned C average in any other science courses taken at Stockton University that are required for Stockton’s Nursing Curriculum
  • Only those science courses required for nursing taken at other colleges and universities with a grade of B or higher will be accepted
  • Submit a completed Internal Transfer Application to the attention of the Nursing Program Coordinator in the School of Health Sciences, WQ-110, no later than December 15
  • Students who meet requirements are not guaranteed admission.

Fall Admission

  • GPA of 3.5 from Stockton University
  • In order to enroll in nursing courses as an internal transfer student for the fall of the sophomore year, students must first complete two semesters of Chemistry and one semester of Anatomy and Physiology with grades of C or above if taken at Stockton University.
  • If students are transferring sciences form another school, they must have completed two semesters of Chemistry (Inorganic and Organic), Anatomy and Physiology I, and Anatomy and Physiology II with grades of B or above.
  • Submit a completed Internal Transfer Application to the attention of the Nursing Program Coordinator in the School of Health Sciences, WQ-110, no later than July 1.
  • Students who meet requirements are not guaranteed admission.
