About The School
St. Johns River State College is a state college founded in 1958 (for organizational purposes) as St. Johns River Junior College and located in Northeast Florida with campuses in St. Augustine, Palatka, and Orange Park.
It is a member institution of the Florida College System, and one of the numerous colleges in the system termed a “state college,” implying that they can offer more four-year bachelor degrees than the conventional two-year community colleges.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits the school. Remarkably, Florida School of the Arts and first state-sponsored arts school is housed within the Palatka Campus.
Nursing Program
The A.S. degree in Nursing equips students for careers as registered nurses RN. The program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. Graduates are qualified to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing has accredited this nursing education program, Associate of Science in Nursing.
Program cost amounts to $7,920 for residents and $28,147.68 for non-residents.
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
St. Johns River State College maintains an “open door” admission policy. Applicants are considered on the basis of their qualifications without regard to race, ethnicity, color, national origin, marital status, religion, age, gender, genetic information, or disability. State Law establishes certain minimum requirements for admission to college credit academic courses. These requirements ensure, as far as possible, that students will be successful in their academic work.
Applicants seeking enrollment in college credit courses must complete an Application for Admission ($30.00 non-refundable fee) and have one of the following:
- Standard high school diploma with an official transcript; or
- High school diploma through any State Department of Education based on performance on the General Education Development (GED) test, provided the test was administered in English with an official transcript; or
- Completed a Florida home education program, by FS 1002.41; or
- Approval for High School Dual Enrollment or Early Admission.
Students who have earned an associate and/or bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution may be exempt from providing official proof of high school completion. Contact the Vice President for Student Affairs for information.
