Nursing Program

Southwest Baptist University in combined sponsorship with Mercy Hospital Springfield offers a two-year nursing training program leading to the Associate of Science in nursing degree (ASN).

Graduates of the Associate of Science in nursing degree training program that meets the criteria can sit for the National licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) for registered nurses (RN). Graduation from this training program does not assure licensure as an RN.

The program is offered at the Southwest Baptist University-Springfield Campus. A graduate of the Associate of Science in nursing degree training program enters the health-care atmosphere as a nurse generalist, prepared to practice in settings in which policies and methods are built and guidance is available.

Graduates will have experience caring for specific clients across the life duration, within the context of their families and also communities, in settings across the health-care continuum. Pupils may advance from the Associate of Science in nursing degree to BSN program or may be at the same time enrolled.
