Nursing Program

Associate Degree Nursing education at Southeastern Illinois College is a part of higher education and is founded on generally accepted principles of community college education. The Associate Degree Nursing Program at Southeastern Illinois College began as a member of the Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM) in the year 1975.

SICCM consists of Southeastern Illinois College, Shawnee College, Rend Lake College, John A. Logan College, and the School of Technical Careers at Southern Illinois University.  Later on, the Associate Degree Nursing Program of each of these campuses started separate identities at the particular community college campuses.

The Associate Degree Nursing program is endorsed by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, Illinois Community College Board and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations.

Southeastern Illinois College has the accreditation of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. About 92% of students in SIC’s Associate Degree Nursing program excelled in their licensure exams the first time upon graduation in 2015! Those who intend to continue their education and acquire a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing leave fully equipped to take that next step.
