Nursing Program

The Nursing Training program prepares individuals to become Registered Nurses. The agenda provides a solid foundation in natural and social sciences and an understanding of patient care in many different settings. All through the program, pupils incorporate experience caring for patients in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities and also community agencies.

Graduates are awarded an Associate in Applied Sciences-Transfer Degree in Nursing. After successful graduation, individuals must take and pass the NCLEX-RN examination to be certified by the State as a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified graduates are eligible for employment as entry-level staff nurses in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, doctors’ offices and home care agencies and to coordinate patient care provided by a nursing team. Students who complete the program – by achieving a GPA of 2.0 or better for each and every individual course in the training program should have the ability to,

Act as a manager of care:

a ) Guide a group of nursing staff,

b ) Connect and work together effectively with the health-care team,

c ) Utilize technology and both human and material tools in a cost- efficient and suitable manner.

About The School

Shoreline Community College (SCC) is a community college in Washington, United States Of America, ten miles north of downtown Seattle. It was established in 1964. It is situated in a residential area east of Shoreview Park.

The college possesses over eighty (80) acres and continuously serves 12,000 full-time and also part-time students. Shoreline Community College has been functioning for more than 50 years, having “commissioned its classrooms in January of 1964”, and offers numerous types of degree and certificate programs.

The campus is comprised of 26 buildings including an award-winning automotive training center, a visual arts building, a multimedia center, computer centers,  a student center, a theater, laboratories, a gymnasium, a child care center, and the Ray W. Howard Library/Technology Centre.

Total program cost is USD $8,240

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

  1. Earned grades of at least 2.0 in college level required non-nursing courses
  2. Placement test scores taken no more than one year prior to the first day of the application period with the following minimum test scores: Math placement above intermediate algebra (MATH 099); English Reading and Writing placement into ENGL& 101
  3. BIOL& 211 (required if taking biology courses at Shoreline)
  4. CHEM& 121* (General Chemistry) – 5 credits, completed within 10 years of application to the program
  5. ENGL& 101* (English Composition) – 5 credits
  6. BIOL& 241* (Anatomy & Physiology I) – 5 credits, completed within 5 years of application to the program
  7. BIOL& 242* (Anatomy & Physiology II) -5 credits, completed within 5 years of application to the program
  8. BIOL& 260 (Microbiology) – 5 credits, completed within 5 years of application to the program
  9. NUTR& 101 (Human Nutrition) – 5 credits, must be completed prior to entering the Nursing Program
  10. PSYC& 200 (Lifespan Development) – 5 credits
  11. MATH&146 * (Statistics) – 5 credits
  • These courses must be completed prior to applying to the Nursing Program.
