Shasta College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews.

Shasta College is an American two (2) year community college situated in Redding, California, United States, established in 1950. It later relocated to a much bigger campus, while the original campus became the new site of Shasta High School.

Shasta College is probably most famous for its music department, which includes a band, symphony orchestra,  choir, music theory, piano and guitar classes. It is home to a community band that with more than hundred (100) associates are one of the biggest in the United States.

On August 20, 2007, Shasta College commissioned its doors to the new Health, Sciences & University Centre in Downtown Redding. It is a subsidiary of the Oregon Institute of Technology, CSU Chico,  and Southern Oregon University.

Shasta College has roughly 8,867 students of every age group, including traditional college students, concurrently enrolled high school students,  re-entry students, more aged, and continuing education students who are merely taking classes for pleasure. The college has a wide selection of transfer-level and also pre-transfer-level classes and programs, including art, language arts, physical education, social science,  and science.

NURSING

The educational purpose of the Associate in Science Degree Nursing program in Shasta College is to prepare the student who, upon graduation and successful completion of the state licensure examination (NCLEX-RN), will be competent to function as a Registered Nurse (RN) within the field of nursing as outlined by the State of California Nursing Practice Act.

Students, at their expense, are required to have a physical assessment and demonstrate evidence of immunity before entering the Associate Degree Nursing training program. Students must satisfy created physical requirements to take part in the clinical area and have a present Basic Life Support–Health Care Provider card (2 people rescue and infant resuscitation). Students also have to adhere to drug testing and background clearance demands for clinical placements.

Total program cost is USD $8,200

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

Students must meet all the following requirements to make application to the wait list:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Completion of prerequisite courses with specified grade requirements. No in progress courses will be accepted.

PREREQUISITE COURSES:

The science prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better in each course and a minimum science GPA of 2.5.  All science prerequisites must have a lab component.

PHY 1        Physiology (with lab)

Students must complete general prerequisite courses with a grade of “C” or better in each course.
