Nursing Program
The Generic Associate Degree Nursing (ADN-RN) training program at San Jacinto College is a 4 1/2 (five semesters) semester training program, leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree. The generic ADN-RN program consists of a combination of class lectures, nursing skills instruction, and also clinical experience in many different health-care functions all through the Houston metropolitan region.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board along with the Texas Board of Nursing (generally known as “BON”) endorses the generic Associate Degree Nursing training program. Upon successful completion of the generic ADN-RN training program, graduates may apply to the Texas Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to meet the requirements as a Registered Nurse (RN).
The North Campus serves as an extension location to the Central Campus ADN training program. Also, it is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

San Jacinto College is a community college in the Greater Houston area in Texas, United States. Founded in the year 1961, San Jacinto College initially consisted of the regions of Channelview ISD, Galena Park ISD, Deer Park ISD, La Porte ISD, and also Pasadena ISD.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Prerequisites courses:
- ENGL 1301 Composition I
- BIOL 2301 Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 lecture
- BIOL 2101 Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 lab
- BIOL 2302 Human Anatomy and Physiology II lecture
- BIOL 2102 Human Anatomy and Physiology II lab
- BIOL 2320 Microbiology and Pathology lecture
- BIOL 2120 Microbiology and Pathology lab
- All science courses are required to have been completed within 5 years of starting the program, minimum final grade of “C”.
- Application for Admission to San Jacinto College via our website at http://sanjac.edu/apply (provided online).
- Completion of the Associate Degree Nursing Program Application (provided online) during application period.
- HESI A2 Admission Test- Applicants seeking admission must take an official Nursing Admission Assessment Exam (HESI A2). A composite score of 75 percent and a score of 75 percent in EACH section of Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Anatomy & Physiology, Biology and Math is required.
- Official Transcripts must be submitted with the application packet
(a) College transcripts – Applicants must have official transcripts from all colleges previously attended mailed directly to the Central Campus Office of Enrollment Services. Transcripts should be requested as soon as possible. Do not wait until the application period beginning dates of either April 1 or September 1 to request transcripts. All courses completed outside the San Jacinto College District must be evaluated by enrollment services.
(b) A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required for all applicants.
(c) Submit all official transcripts sealed from other colleges, including San Jacinto College transcripts, with ADN application.
- A Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening are required prior to enrolling in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, and is part of the application process.
- CPR Card and Immunization documentation must be submitted with ADN application
- In order for your ADN application to be accepted, you must have completed a minimum of:
- CPR card from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (online courses are not accepted)
- Varicella shot #2 or titer
- Hepatitis A shot #1 or #2
- Hepatitis B shot #3 or titer
- or TWINRIX shot #3
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) #2 or titer
- Tdap (administered 2005 or later)
- Current Flu vaccine
- TB Skin Test (within last 12 months)
- Chest X-Ray Results (If applicable)
