Saddleback College (generally known as Saddleback) is a community college in Mission Viejo, California, United States Of America. As associated with the California Community College system, Saddleback awards over three hundred (300) associate’s degrees, academic certificates, and occupational skills awards in one hundred and ninety (190) programs. The college was founded in 1968 and is the most ancient and also southern-most institution governed by the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCD). Saddleback College obtained its name from the slump (or Saddleback) between the double peaks of Santiago Peak and also Modjeska Peak in the Cleveland National Forest. As a centre for higher education, Saddleback College’s objective is to enhance its pupils and the South Orange County community by offering an extensive variety of top quality courses and programs that foster student learning and success in the achievement of academic degrees and career technical certificates, transfer to four (4) year schools, enhancement of fundamental skills, and lifelong learning.
Saddleback College is the biggest member of the South Orange County Community College District and offers educational possibilities and support services to a different and growing population in southern Orange County.
NURSING
The Saddleback College Registered Nursing Training program is a National League for Nursing (NLNAC), and Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) authorized Training program.
The training program is intended to provide the education essential to build competent nursing professionals as a base for the continuing growth and development of the student. Students who complete the nursing program successfully are eligible to sit for the State of California NCLEX examination to be certified as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Total program cost is USD $9,200
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- 8 years old or older
- Complete application for Saddleback College to obtain a student ID to apply to the RN program
- Submit official transcripts from other colleges/universities other than Saddleback for pre-requisite courses and nursing curriculum courses
- Completion with a 2.8 GPA or better in the following science -requisites: BIO 11, BIO 12, BIO 15.
- Completion of English 1A or the equivalent with a “C” or better
- TEAS score 62% and above
Attending one of the two information sessions offered every semester, is highly recommended (but not mandatory) for all applicants. Dates for information sessions are posted on the website. Applications deadlines are 15th-30th June for spring enrolment and February for fall enrolment.
Students accepted into the Saddleback College Associate Degree Nursing Program requires background checks as required by the Joint for clinical practice in health care facilities that are required to maintain criminal background checks for students and volunteers involved in patient care.
Students also need to have a physical examination within three months of the date of admission into the nursing program.
