Sacramento City College (SCC) is a two (2) year community college situated in Sacramento, California, United States Of America. It was established in 1916. Sacramento City College is a member of the Los Rios Community College District and had an enrollment of 25,307 in 2009. Sacramento City College is formally authorized by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, offering Associate in Science (A.S) and Associate in Art (A.A) degrees. It is situated at the junction of Freeport Boulevard and also Sutterville Road in Sacramento, California, USA.
NURSING
The focus of the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program in Sacramento City College is to prepare entry level nurses with the knowledge, attitudes, as well as skills essential to deliver high quality and safe patient care in line with the competencies of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN).
These competencies include the following:

This is a long developed training program authorized by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), with an outstanding reputation for graduating well-equipped entry level nursing graduates. The training program is two (2) years in length and upon successful completion, earns the graduate with an Associate Degree of Science in Nursing and qualification to sit for the licensure examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The training program maintains a constantly high pass rate on the licensure examination. Many of the units of the training program transfer to 4-year colleges. Excellent clinical facilities in the Sacramento region are utilized for student rotations in the course of the program.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Application and acceptance into the Associate in Science Degree Registered Nursing Program at Sacramento City College.
- BIOL 430, BIOL 431, and BIOL 440 with grades of “C” or better and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- PSYC 300 or PSYC 480; ENGWR 300 or ENGWR 488; COMM 301 or COMM 331; SOC 321 or ANTH 310 or ANTH 481 with grades of “C” or better and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. In-progress grades will not be accepted for prerequisite courses.
- It is strongly recommended that students complete all general education requirements (Area I-VI) and competency requirements (reading, writing, and mathematics) prior to application to the program.
- It is recommended students fulfil the living skills graduation requirement by completing Nutrition and/or Human Development: A Life Span.
- Completion of the Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS), developed by the Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC (ATI). A composite score of 62 is necessary to be eligible for application to the program. Additional information is available on this Nursing website.
- Students accepted to the nursing program are required to undergo a criminal background check and drug screen and obtain approval from the healthcare systems used for clinical rotations prior to final enrolment in the nursing program .Any conviction on your clinical background check within the past seven years, including DUI, has the potential of denying you access to Sacramento-area healthcare facilities for clinical rotations, which may prevent you from being admitted to the nursing program. Applicants who have been denied access to a hospital system will communicate only with the nursing program director or designee and not the clinical facility. Any conviction on your background check may prevent you from taking the licensure examination and obtaining a license to practice nursing in the state of California.
