Nursing Program
The training program graduate is awarded an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and is then qualified to apply to the Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). The Rose State College Nursing Science Training program readies graduates for practice as registered nurses in thrilling, demanding and also satisfying careers.
The training program is completely certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and endorsed by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. The training program length, once admitted, is four (4) semesters in length for the Beginning Track and two (2) semesters in length for the Career Ladder Track.
About The School
Rose State College (RSC) is a community college situated in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The institution was renamed Rose State College by Senate Bill Number 9 in April the year 1983 that went into effect on November 1, 1983. Rose State College offered its very first classes on September 21, 1970.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Admission to Rose State College
- Meet the Physical/Mental Requirements (outlined below.)
- Minimum of 95 total points on the Beginning Track Point Criteria (See Advisement for Beginning Track.) NOTE: Earning the minimum points on the Points Criteria does not guarantee admission to the Program. Applicants will have better odds of getting admitted if total points on the Points Criteria are at least 115-120.
- Minimum score of 74 on the Writing Skills Compass test.
- Minimum score of 81 on the Reading Skills Compass test.
- Minimum score of 61 on the Pre-Algebra Compass test.
PLEASE NOTE: Accuplacer will be replacing COMPASS the end of October. Watch for updates regarding score requirements on this site. Information will also be available in the Nursing Program Office or the Health Sciences Division Office.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher in all courses required for the program.
- Official notification of acceptance into the Nursing Science Program.
- Completion of required pre-requisite coursework (before enrollment in the nursing program). These required pre-requisite courses are: ENGL 1113 English Composition I, CHEM 1114 Introduction to Chemistry, HSBC 1113 Medical Terminology, and HSNS 1011 Introduction to Professional Nursing Practice Concepts. Students may be enrolled in these at the same time they submit an application to the Nursing Science Program for admission but they must be successfully completed or the student cannot be enrolled in the program and must re-apply at a later date.
CAREER LADDER TRACK APPLICANTS
- Admission to Rose State College.
- Meet the Physical/Mental Requirements (outlined below.)
- Minimum of 32 total points on the Career Ladder Track Point Criteria (See Advisement for Career Ladder Track.) NOTE: Earning the minimum points on the Points Criteria does not guarantee admission to the Program. Applicants will have better odds of getting admitted if your total points on the Points Criteria are at least 50-60.
- Minimum score of 74 on the Writing Skills Compass test.
- Minimum score of 81 on the Reading Skills Compass test.

Students may be enrolled in these at the same time they submit an application to the Nursing Science Program for admission but they must be successfully completed or the student cannot be enrolled in the program and must re-apply at a later date.
- LPNs: If graduated from an ACEN accredited LPN program <1 year prior to time of application, must provide documented proof of current employment as an LPN in a direct client care setting at the time of application. If graduated from an ACEN accredited LPN program >1 year and <5 years preceding application, must provide proof of completion of the equivalent of 1 year of full-time experience (2000 hours) as an LPN in a direct client care setting within the last 5 years prior to application. All graduates from non-ACEN accredited LPN programs and/or those who graduated >5 years preceding application must provide proof of having completed 1 year of full-time equivalent experience as an LPN in a direct client care setting within the last 5 years at the time of application, and successfully complete the LPN/Paramedic challenge exam.
