Nursing Program

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing is built to prepare you as an entry-level practitioner in the art and science of nursing. You will learn from professional faculty and mentors in the field.

You will learn the appropriate ethical values and also legal principles, along with the finest instruction to provide safe and also efficient total client care. The training program commonly lasts five semesters, and your concentration will be on classes like “Human Anatomy & Physiology” and “Nursing I. You will also take a few electives as you go along too. Rappahannock Community College also offers an Advanced Placement LPN to ADN training program.

Upon satisfactory completion of this training program, the pupil will be qualified to apply to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Examination (NCLEX-RN) essential for licensure as a registered nurse (RN).

About The School

Rappahannock Community College (shortened form: RCC) is a two-year college situated in Virginia. It was established in 1969.

It has two campuses- one located in Glenns, then one in Warsaw. There are four off-campus sites— one in King George, one in Kilmarnock, one in King William County and the most recent site — unveiled in 2015 — in New Kent County, USA

Total estimated program cost is USD $15,900

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate
2. Official Transcripts
3. College placement test in math, writing and reading
4. Complete pre-requisite science or math courses
5. College placement tests in reading, writing and mathematics.
6. A cumulative GPA or 2.5 or higher
7. Proof of IT competency
8. Pre-entrance examination (T.E.A.S.) for nursing (applicants who have completed a four year degree are exempt)

Applications for the nursing program are processed in the spring prior to the fall of intended enrollment. Applicants admitted to the program are expected to attend a mandatory orientation session in the summer before the fall of intended enrollment.

Physical and dental exams including all required immunizations need to be completed before enrollment. Students are required to possess current CPR certification as well as submit to drug screening and criminal background check.

Students enrolling in clinical components are required to arrange for malpractice insurance.

LPN-AND BRIDGE

1. Graduated from high school or completed a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) at the time of application.
2. Successfully completed one unit of high school BIO, high school CHM, or college equivalent (BIO 101; CHM 101; CHM 111) with a grade of “C” or better.
3. Completed all applicable developmental courses if indicated as a result of placement testing: MTE modules 1-3 completed and eligible to take MTH 126; and ENF 3 com­pleted and eligible to take ENG 111.
4. Completed the ATI TEAS Nursing Entrance Test within the past 3 years and scored at the 45th National Percentile Rank or higher.
5. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
6. Complete and submit an application to the nursing program by the designated time in the spring preceding the fall start of the pro­gram (see nursing link on RCC webpage for more information) and clearly indicate that you are applying for the Advanced Placement Option for the ADN program.
7. Must have completed SDV 101 (or SDV 100), ENG 111, MTH 126 or higher level math, and BIO 141 & 142 at time of application.
8. Must present an unencumbered license to practice as a LPN to Admission and Records at time of application (include a copy with your application as well).
9. LPNs are not eligible to participate in the Guaranteed Admission process.
