Nursing Program
The Nursing Program trains graduates to offer direct client care in a safe and effective manner across many settings. To achieve this goal, there three educational options in the program: licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), and LPN to RN.
The registered nurse (RN) is organized to handle the care of clients in any environment to achieve an optimal state of health. The RN utilizes the nursing procedure to analyze and assess the health needs and problems of clients, plan and execute suitable actions based on nursing diagnosis or recognized client needs and appraises the extent to which desired outcomes are achieved.
Upon completion, graduates of the associate’s degree Registered Nurse program obtain an Associate of Science degree (A.S.) and become eligible to sit for the RN licensure examination (NCLEX-RN).
The RN program easily articulates with bachelor’s degree nursing programs enabling graduates to challenge or transfer credits. Under an exceptional articulation contract with Stevenson University, RN’s can satisfy all requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree, except for upper-level nursing courses, through the Prince George’s Community College. Stevenson University’s upper-level nursing courses are also offered at Prince George’s Community College, enabling all requirements to be satisfied in the county.
