Nursing Program
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) training program in Northeastern Technical College readies pupils to become registered nurses (RNs), who have the knowledge and competencies to work as a beginning-level personnel nurse in many different organized health-care settings for instance clinics, hospitals, long-term agencies, physicians’ offices and also community organizations.
The training program demands 68 semester hours of instruction, which include roughly 700 training hours in patient care experience in laboratory and also clinical functions. Coursework can be fulfilled in 5 semesters at which time pupils must pass the National Council on Licensure Examination (NCLEX–RN) to become a registered nurse. Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Applicant must attend ONE of the Mandatory Nursing Information Sessions. An Attendance Ticket is distributed and this ticket must be submitted with Admission packet.
- APPLICATIONS: Cannot submit online.
- New Students – Submit a NETC Application and fee of $30.00.
- Returning Students who have been out for over a year – Submit a NETC Application (No fee required)
- Current enrolled students or students enrolled over last year – Submit a Change of Curriculum form.
IMPORTANT: Students who have two attempts (withdrawal or dismissal) in any nursing program are not eligible for admission or readmission for five years after last attempt.
- Official transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office. This includes GED, high school (accredited) and all colleges attended. NETC will consider credits only from regionally accredited institutions for transfer. Transcripts from colleges outside the U.S. must include certified English translation (www.NACES.org). It is the student’s responsibility to be sure NETC receives all transcripts by deadline.
- PLACEMENT INFORMATION: Choose one qualifier below.
- Successful completion of NETC’s AA, AS, Practical Nursing or Nurse Transfer Certificate within the past 10 years with a “C” or better earned in English and Math.
- Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with a 2.5 GPA with a “C” or better earned in English and Math
- Minimum “C” in ENG 100; MAT 101/150; and RDG 100 within 2 years at NETC or other SC Technical College
- Minimum “C” in ENG 101 or 155 and MAT 155 or 110 within 10 years at NETC or any regionally accredited institution.
- SAT Scores – Verbal – 480 and Math – 480 within 2 years
- ACT Scores – Composite 20 within 2 years
- COMPASS/Accuplacer Placement Scores* within 2 years of ENG 101; MAT 110 or 155; and no Reading.
- SCIENCE
Applicants must have completed a college Biology or Chemistry class with a lab with a grade of “C” or better, within 10 years of application date. Physical Science is not an acceptable class.
- GRADES
Applicant must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale on college work from all accredited institutions earned in the previous ten years. Those who are accepted for admission to the ADN program must continue to meet eligibility requirements until enrollment in the program
LPN-ADN TRANSITION
- Application for Admission to the Transition Program and Application Fee ($30.00), if new student; Current students should submit a change of curriculum form.
- Proof of high school graduation or GED
- All official college transcripts from postsecondary institutions
- Must have completed BIO 211 with a grade of “C” or better within 10 years or be currently enrolled in at the time of application
- Must have completed ENG 101 and MAT 155/110 with a minimum grade of “C” or better within 10 years, OR be currently enrolled in at the time of application OR have satisfactory placement scores (within two years) including SAT (480 V, 480 M) or ACT (Composite 20) or Compass/Accuplacer Scores (ENG 101, MAT 155 or 110 and No Reading required).
- Applicant must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale on all college work from all accredited institutions earned in the previous ten years.
- Proof of current licensure as an LPN in good standing (State Board of Nursing)
