Nursing program

Associate Degree Nursing in the North Iowa Area Community College was created to prepare individuals for general staff certified nursing placements that involve direct care of patients. There are 2 paths of entrance into the training program: one for starting pupils the other for Qualified Practical Nurses. Men and women contemplating enrollment or presently enlisted in the nursing training program must understand that earlier felony convictions may rule out eligibility for licensure upon accomplishment of the training course.

The training course is endorsed by the Iowa Authority of Nursing as well as approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) (initially the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.).

NOTE: The candidate must finalize the application procedure via the health professions counselor situated in the Student Development Office. The ADN program provides 2 starts: Summer season as well as Fall Terms. All prospects must complete a high school diploma or equivalency training program.

The date of official application to the training program will be the particular date the prospect submits a complete application to the ADN training program. Final endorsement to the training program will be when the prospect has effectively completed all of the requirements for the ADN training program. The date of application will be factored in if several prospects contend for vacancy. Completed applications are evaluated beginning in December for the following academic season.

About the school

The North Iowa Area Community College (popularly known as NIACC) is a community college in Mason Town, Iowa.

NIACC started as Mason City Junior College in 1918, being the first public two-year college in Iowa as well as one of the first such establishments in the nation. The first season there were twenty-eight students, 6 trainers, as well as 5 areas of study under Principal James Rae. Tuition was totally free to Mason City citizens and $10 for non-residents.

The College was on the top floor of the high school until the 1950s when it relocated to the Memorial University Structure. In 1960, the college relocated into the old Roosevelt High School Structure.

NIACC is a progressive, extensive learning establishment installed to function as the major traditional, educational, and economic development force for the North Iowa district. In 2018, the College is going to commemorate its 100th anniversary
