North Arkansas College Nursing Prerequisites & Reviews

North Arkansas College is a comprehensive, public two-year college situated in Harrison, Arkansas, in the US.

North Arkansas College provides several different educational opportunities to the citizens of Boone, Carroll, Searcy, Marion, Newton and Madison counties in northern Arkansas.

Northark Arkansas College has 3 campuses in Harrison as well as one in Berryville, Arkansas.

The Institution has been chosen as one of the most inexpensive community colleges in the country with fall 2016 tuition rates of $69 per credit hour for Boone County, AR residents; $93 per credit hour for Arkansas residents, $167 per credit hour for Barry; Ozar, Stone and Taney County, Missouri residents and $164 per credit hour for out-of-state residents.

Northark Arkansas College is well known for highly respected Allied Health programs and also various technical programs that get students into professions quickly.

The College is situated near the Buffalo National River and Branson, MO in the exquisite Ozark Mountains.

Students enlisted in degree and certificate program average 27 years of age. Northark Arkansas College has an enrolment of 40% male and 60% female.

75% of Northark students obtain some form of monetary aid. Fall 2016 headcount enrollment was 1,889. Northark employs 201 regular faculty and staff and roughly 205 part-time faculty and staff.

NURSING PROGRAM

The curriculum in Nursing in North Arkansas College is a regular training program, requiring a regular commitment from its students. The faculty of the Department of Nursing highly disapproves its students from regular or part-time employment.

The training program begins every January. Graduates of this training program are qualified to sit and write for the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The AAS Nursing Degree Programs are endorsed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

The AAS Nursing Degree Programs are authorized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Total program cost is USD $10,150

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

  • Be accepted to North Arkansas College
  • Meet the admission requirements for the Associate Degree in Nursing Program in current Northark catalog and make application by September 1.
  • Have evidence of satisfactory completion of a state-approved Practical Nursing Program.
  • Have verification of current unencumbered LPN Licensure.
  • Have, from their employers, on the employers’ letterhead, verification of 3 months or 120 hours of employment as an LPN.
  • Have completed ACT and/or the COMPASS Test and have scores sent to North Arkansas College. Transfer students must submit a complete Official Transcript to the

Admission’s Office.

  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must complete all college preparatory classes based on his/her scores on the ACT or COMPASS test with a “C” or above before being accepted into the Nursing Program.
  • Have an official high school transcript or GED scores sent to the Admission’s Office.

All science courses required by the nursing program taken prior to entry in the program must be successfully completed within five years of acceptance into the program. Science courses older than five (5) years must be repeated. MAT 1134 or ET 1134 Applied Algebra and Trigonometry will not be accepted as an option for the math requirement for this program.
