Nursing program

  • The 4-year nursing pre-licensure training program at Nazareth College is meant for the undergraduate student with no prior experience in professional nursing. The training program emphasis is on transcultural nursing, preparing the graduates of the training program to work in numerous settings to provide culturally sensitive care to patients.
  • Students in their first 2-years of study must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75, with at least grade of “C” in all required science and also nurse major courses. Pupils must maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 to advance in the nursing major.
  • The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education fully certifies Nazareth College as well as being registered with the New York State Education Division. Naz offers a broad range of courses in the liberal arts, humanities, nursing, and the sciences to assist pupils to achieve educational and also professional objectives. The training program provides students with the breadth of knowledge that characterizes the well-educated professional, so pupils can face the needs of a changing society and acquire leadership roles in the healthcare
  • Graduates of the training program meet the criteria to take and must pass, the NCLEX-RN exam to become a Registered Professional Nurse. The training program awards a Bachelor of Science degree.

  • Nazareth College is a coeducational, non-public, religiously independent school in Pittsford, a suburb of Rochester, New York, United States.
  • The College was formed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1924; the school offers over 60 undergraduate majors, 20 graduate programs as well as three post-baccalaureate certificate programs. Alumni and also locals usually refer to the college as “Naz” in abbreviation.

All potential nursing students must meet the general college admission requirements. Students should also demonstrate proficiency in mathematics and science.

Nazareth College is a member of the Common Application. To be considered as a freshman applicant, please submit a completed application along with an official high school transcript and a minimum of one letter of recommendation from either a teacher or school counselor. The $45 non-refundable application fee is waived when filing an application electronically.

Nazareth is test optional meaning applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT  tests scores in order to be admitted to the college. If the applicant chooses to include SAT or ACT results, tests scores must be included on the official high school transcript or sent directly from the College Board or ACT.

Admitted freshmen choosing to enroll, must submit an enrollment deposit before May 1st followed by an official, final high school transcript after graduation.
