The objective of our training program is to prepare pre-licensed RN pupils to practice safe and also dependable patient-centered nursing care in many different health functions, to optimize human health and well-being potential across the lifetime, within a swiftly transforming health-care system.

It is built to empower pupils with the knowledge and competencies that are important in fulfilling the health-care needs of a various population within our community and to encourage in the pupil a sense of credibility, dedication, and competence.

About The School

Nassau Community College is a two-year college situated in Garden City, New York, United States. The institution is in Nassau County on Long Island. Nassau Community College upholds a national reputation for the convenience of transferability to four (4) year institutions. It was founded in 1959.

Total estimated program cost is USD $19,880

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Scores obtained on the Nursing admissions test (TEAS or Test of Essential Academic Skills).
  • Those applicants who are required to take the College’s placement examination in reading, English and mathematics, and whose test scores indicate a need for remediation in any of these subject areas, must complete all mandated remedial requirements before entering the Nursing Program.

APPLICANTS SEEKING ADMISSION WITH ONLY HIGH SCHOOL CREDENTIALS

These requirements are:

  • Average of at least 80 in three years of English
  • Average of at least 80 in two years of college preparatory math
  • Average of at least 80 in three years of science, including a year of biology
  • Average of at least 80 in English, math and science grades, combined

Meeting these criteria is not a guarantee of admission; rather, it means that you will be considered for admission.

APPLICANTS WITH PRIOR COLLEGE CREDITS

  • Their results on the TEAS exam- Your scores must be at least in the “Proficient” range (score of 58.7 or higher) in reading, math and English in order for you to remain eligible for consideration for admission to NCC’s Nursing Program.

Their performance in the general education/liberal arts courses that are part of the Nursing Program curriculum

  • Only courses that were completed with a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher are considered. The average of your grades for these courses must be at least a “B” (3.0).
  • Courses that are not a part of NCC’s Nursing Program are disregarded.
  • The more courses you have completed from the 33 general education/liberal arts courses in the Nursing Program, and the higher your grades in these courses, the greater your chance of admission to the Nursing Program.
  • Applicable science courses completed ten or more years prior to admission to nursing will not be accepted.
  • Applicants will not be considered for admission to the Nursing Program if they have attempted AHS 131 more than twice (including grades below “C” and grades of “W”), at NCC or elsewhere, in the 10 years preceding admission to the Nursing Program.
