- Mississippi University for Women (also referred to as MUW, or simply just the “W”) is a four-year coeducational public university situated in Columbus, Mississippi. It was initially referred to as Industrial Institute and College (II&C) and later on Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW). Men have been accepted to Mississippi University for Women since the year 1982.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Students must first apply for admission into the university. This is done by completing a MUW Admission Form, submitting a completed Immunisation Form and Health Examination Form and having all transcripts mailed to the Office of Admissions. The following link will provide you with admission information.
A separate application for admission into the BSN Program is required. A copy of the application will be mailed upon request.
The application deadline is January 20th at 5:00 p.m. In order to be considered for the second summer term entering class each year (usually the end of June or the first week of July), the student must submit the application, ACT scores, and official transcripts from each institution attended by 5:00 p.m. on January 20th.
Admission to the Advanced option
- You must have an overall GPA of 2.5 with an ACT less than 21. If your ACT is 21 or higher, you may be admitted with an overall GPA of 2.0.
- You must have a current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse.
- You must have 50 hours of the pre-requisites completed. The remaining 12 hours can be taken along with your nursing courses.
- They will need copies of your transcripts in order to evaluate the course that may count as a pre-requisite.
