Nursing Program
Murray State College offers a 5-semester nursing training program with new classes starting in the fall of every year. At the completion of the nursing training program pupils will graduate with an Associate in Applies Science Degree (AAS) and is qualified to take and sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses (RN).
Murray State College offers two distinct entry alternatives, the Traditional Pathway along with the Career Mobility Online pathway for Licensed Practical Nurses LVN’s and Licensed Paramedics.

Murray State College is a public, co-educational community college situated in southeastern Oklahoma with the primary campus situated in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, USA. The college is named in honor of past Oklahoma Governor William H. “Alfalfa Bill” Murray.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Achieved a minimum ATI TEAS entrance exam score of 58.7%
- Achieved a minimum ACT composite score of 19 or college GPA of 3.0 or higher if composite ACT is less than 19
- Have a College retention GPA of 2.5 or nursing prerequisite GPA or 3.-0.
- Must meet college admission requirements.
- Biological sciences, chemistry, nutrition and behavioral science courses cannot be more than 10 years old from your anticipated date of graduation.
- General education courses applicable to Nursing Program curriculum must have grades of “C” or
- Complete a federal background check between with www.castlebranch.com to be completed after February 1, with results received by March.
- Meet minimal physical and mental qualifications necessary to be consider for, and progress through, the Murray State College Nursing Program.
- Meet and maintain the following Oklahoma Board of Nursing’s requirements for licensure: The Murray State College Nursing Program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for (registered or practical) nurses. Applicants for Oklahoma licensure must meet all state and federal requirements to hold an Oklahoma license to practice nursing. In addition to completing a state-approved nursing education program that meets educational requirements and successfully passing the licensure examination, requirements include submission of an application for licensure, a criminal history records search, and evidence of citizenship or qualified alien status.
Licensed Paramedics, LPNS, LVNs to RN
- Admission to Murray State College
Gain admission to the Murray State College. Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the nursing program. All transcript must be on file with the registrars office.
- ACT, GPA and Transcript Evaluation
ACT of 19 or better(See additional information above). College retention GPA of 2.5 or nursing prerequisite GPA of 3.0 is required for submission of a nursing program application. Each prerequisite course grades must have a grade of “C” or better.
- ATI Teas Exam score of 58.7% (Proficient) on 1 of two attempt between November 1-March 9. Applicants are required to have their ACT reviewed and GPA calculated prior to taking the ATI Teas entrance exam.
- Achieve a minimum HESI RN Entrance Challenge Assessment score of 850.
- Hold an official and current Oklahoma License/certification as an LPN or Paramedic.
- Applicants must complete all the required prerequisite for the nursing program by August.
