Mt. San Antonio College (typically known as Mt. SAC ) is a community college situated in the Los Angeles suburb of Walnut, California, United States Of America, 2 .12 miles west of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. It is amongst the biggest community colleges in California with 57, 319 pupils. Mt. San Antonio College was established in 1946 as associated with the California Community Colleges system.
Associated Students is the student government organization at Mt. San Antonio College and serves as the recognized voice of the student body. Its budget, of above $600,000, is produced by an alternative “Student Activities” fee paid by students during the fall and also spring semesters. Associated Students coordinates and funds various events for the student body.
Sitting on 420 acres, it is among the biggest community colleges in California with some of its older structures having served as part of a little military hospital complex up until World War II.
The institution has new science classrooms and also laboratory facilities; dance, music, and theater structure; multimedia/Internet connected classrooms; a new baseball complex; a putting green; a football field; 2 soccer fields; and is home of the world-famous Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
Mt. San Antonio College has a country award-winning forensics team that is trained by Danny Cantrell, Roxan Arntson, and Roger Willis-Raymondo. The program has won several national and regional speech and debate tournaments, including the American Forensics Association (AFA) national undergraduate tournament, the Phi Rho Pi national community college tournament, as well as many Readers Theatre championships.
NURSING
The Mt. San Antonio College Nursing Program is endorsed by the California Board of Registered Nursing. The training program is a two-year program built to prepare students to provide direct nursing care to clients in several practice functions.
The training program comprises of course work in nursing, science, general education and clinical nursing practice at local hospitals and health care agencies.
Graduates of the training program receive an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and are qualified to take the NCLEX-RN exam leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Total program cost $11,000
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- All students will need to bring official proof of high school graduation, GED, or college graduation from an accredited institution in the United States.
- Complete pre-requisite courses (Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Microbiology all including a laboratory component )
Final Selection of students for each admitting period will be determined by random selection from a pool of qualified candidates.
Qualified candidates will be expected to submit to a criminal background check and drug screening must be completed prior to any patient contact. A physical examination, including specific immunizations is required of all candidates prior to the beginning of nursing classes.
The program also requires Current Level C-Provider CPR certification. The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) protects the consumer by screening applicants for licensure in order to identify potentially unsafe practitioners.
