Nursing Program
Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) is an associate in the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE).
The Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education curriculum is built as a four (4) year course of study, the very first year dedicated to pre-admission requisites and/or pre-program courses (45 credits) needed prior to starting the nursing training program in the 2nd year. The 2nd and 3rd year of designated study will be taken at Mt. Hood Community College. Overall credits needed to complete the training program are a minimum of 127.
Upon completion of the Mt. Hood Community College Nursing training program specifications, the pupils will obtain an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and will be qualified to sit and take the Registered Nurse National Council Licensure Examination (RN-NCLEX). Licensure is awarded via the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Hood Community College enrolls roughly 30,000 pupils yearly and offers classes at the 212-acre primary campus in Gresham, Bruning Center for Allied Health Education, the MHCC Maywood Park Center, and at area public schools.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Complete a minimum 30 quarter credits of prerequisite courses (see below) with a letter grade of “C” or better with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00. Of these 30 credits, it must include BI231 and MTH095 (or MHCC placement testing into MTH105 or higher). For the purposes of the Nursing program, “Pass/No Pass” classes will be considered a “C” grade.
- The required mathematics, anatomy and physiology (A&P) I, II, III; nutrition; and microbiology must be completed within the last seven years (cannot be completed prior to Winter 2010), labs included.
- Transcript considerations:
- Transcripts from every college attended, regardless of program relevancy, program length, or age, must be included for an application to be complete. Transcripts must be official (unopened) and issued directly by the accredited institution (official electronic (EDI) transcripts are fine).
- Do NOT include an MHCC transcript -they are already on file.
- Secondary transferred coursework is not accepted. Original transcripts must accompany all earned, attempted, or audited college credits.
- “Non-accredited” college transcripts are not required and will not fulfill program or degree requirements, but may be submitted.
- If an up-to-date transcript is on file (showing most recently completed coursework with nothing in progress) applicants do not need to submit another copy.
- Transcripts from foreign institutions must be evaluated before the application deadline by an outside credential service. If the primary language of instruction was in English, the writing may be waived upon review of official transcripts. Acceptable credential evaluation services may be found at www.naces.org and http://aice-eval.org/. The evaluation process for foreign transcripts is time consuming. It is best to start this process early.
