Nursing program

  • A BSN degree from Mount Carmel College of Nursing is the solid foundation to an exciting career in the profession of nursing.
  • The Traditional 4-Year Training program is meant for students with no prior nursing experience. The very first year of study concentrates on completing general education prerequisites, which provide the foundation for the nursing studies that start in the sophomore year. The nursing curriculum incorporates both practical clinical experiences and also classroom theory. Nursing coursework emphasizes clinical practice in various acute-care hospitals and also community-based centers.
  • In addition to standard classes, our nursing and also humanities seminars encourage pupils to explore individual health-related interests and also can provide you with rich cultural experiences. The Mount Carmel School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing Training program readies graduates to sit and take the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurse, administered via the Ohio Board of Nursing.

About the school

  • The Sisters of the Holy Cross, from Notre Dame, United States, established Mount Carmel College of Nursing in 1903. 3-years later, the very first graduating class of thirteen students earned a Diploma in Nursing. The sisters’ vision motivated them to continually improve nursing education, earning the distinction in 1941 of being among the few nursing schools in the nation to receive accreditation.
  • In 2003, one hundred years after their founding, the highly successful Graduate Training program was initiated, offering a Master of Science in several paths.
  • During this decade, the 2nd Degree Accelerated Training program and Web-based RN-BSN Completion Training program were started, along with a satellite campus at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster was founded. Also, the state-of-the-art Centre for Innovative Learning, along with the Health Sciences Library was created, the beautiful apartment-style residence halls were unveiled, and a Consumer Health Library to enhance the health of the Franklinton community became a reality.

Total estimated cost of attendance is approximate $27,160

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Successful completion of the following college-preparatory course work while in high school or the college equivalent with a grade of “C” or better
  • 4 Units English
  • 3 Units Mathematics (including Algebra II)
  • 3 Units Laboratory Science (including Biology & Chemistry)
  • 3 Units Social Science
  • 2 Units Foreign Language (sign language accepted)
  • 1 Unit Visual or Performing Art
  • Minimum cumulative college transfer GPA: 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA is 3.0. on a 4.0 scale
  • High school students ACT composite of 20, or SAT composite of 950 recommended.
