Most Rapes Are Provoked by Women

August 22, 2009 by Greg 7 Comments

There are millions of people allover the world who have been victims of rape. Rape is so traumatic that all rape victims suffer some degree of post traumatic stress disorder from the experience.

Do women always provoke rape?

It is easy to think that a man always subjects rape to a woman but this assumption is false. There are millions of men who have been raped by other men or by women. I happened to interview a patient recently who was rapped multiple times by multiple gangs of over 20 men each in jail in Texas.  Describing his story in this post might be traumatic to many in public but I can do so if I get more than 20 requests to give the rape story he gave on the interview.

But those are extreme cases where the victim is helpless and in the mercy of the rape gangs that no man can fight. In a lot of cases, rapes are directed to women more than they are directed to men.

What provokes a rape though is most of the time avoidable only if one knows that they are being targeted. While we cannot ignore rapes by sexual offenders, there are a lot of rapes out there that are women provoked.

In an interview with a mentally sick patient related to rape post traumatic disorder, the victim confessed how she went to a community swimming pool every evening in summer to cool down and have fun in long summer evenings. Everyone deserves freedom to do what he or she wants but the rapist who raped this victim was living in an apartment facing the swimming pool. He was watching this girl every day in the pool and basking alone almost naked in swimsuits.

It is said that one of the main difference between human beings and animals is that human beings can control themselves and make decisions that are acceptable. We have free will and drive and we can control our actions, unlike animals that act on instincts rather than thoughts.

Having said this, I think we should not be fooled by the freedom we have to do what we want. Women should realize that they attract men naturally and wearing extra sexy and provoking outfits could be provoking a life long trauma in their lives.

In the USA constitution, women can wear what they want even in public so long as it is not exposing their private parts and breast nipples. While the law can enforce serious repercussion to anyone harming a woman with an excuse of their outfit as the provoking factor, your cost of being rapped is not worth it.

Even if the rapist would be shot dead, you would never forget an event of rape. I would suggest that you keep yourself safe all the time. If you must go swimming almost naked in a public swimming pool, take someone with you who could safe you from the rod of a rapist.

Having said this, I think women can do a great job reducing the number of rapes that happen globally every year. While most of the rape victims are innocent and had not done anything provocative, while a human being should be accountable and should suffer the consequences of their actions, we should not ignore the provoked rapes that could have been otherwise prevented.

This is a polarizing topic intended for discussion and airing your opinions only. This topic is designed to spark discussions and not fight 🙂 .Content may not necessarily reflect my opinion. Discuss your opinion about rape without using any vulgar, hate or abusive language.

I interpreted your comments to be an excuse for a rapist. I resent this. If a woman (unwisely!) chooses to be naked in public, no one has the right to rape her. I am a swimmer and wear usually a one piece with shorts on and I don’t expect or deserve to be attacked as a consequence. My wearing a swimsuit to swim is NOT a provocation for rape.

I disagreed with the writer of the article…his thinking is too shallow (besides his grammar needs a touching up). I was raped in December during a very cold winter..while wearing my coat . He pulled the coat down to pin my arms to my sides. Since he was at least twice my size, I couldn’t fight him off…but it took at least an hour for him to actually rape me d/t my fighting him.
So, he needs to do some very intensive research…due diligence.

Most Rapes Are Provoked by Women??? Seriously?? Did I just enter a time warp to the 1970’s? Next you will be writing an article on how women who wear provocative outfits are asking to be raped.

Are you aware that rape is not a sexual act? It is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman, or a man as your article points out.

“Having said this, I think we should not be fooled by the freedom we have to do what we want. Women should realize that they attract men naturally and wearing extra sexy and provoking outfits could be provoking a lifelong trauma in their lives.”

How do you explain the 80 something female raped by a young violent male? Was her ankle length granny dress too provocative? No of course it was not too provocative; simply because rape is not a crime of sexual attraction; it is a crime of violence and anger towards a particular group; female, male, blonde, brunette etc. Provocative clothing has nothing to do with rape. Think of a rape that takes place in the coldest months of a Canadian winter. I can’t imagine a parka, wool mitts, a scarf and snowmobile boots being considered naturally attracting men and provoking lifelong trauma in their lives.

Your saying if the girl was covered up more she wouldn’t of been raped? Unfortunately this argument holds no grounds. There are 1000’s upon 1000’s of women in Muslim countries who are raped and they wear clothing that covers every inch of their body. So let me ask you, how is it their fault?
