Nursing Program

The A.D. Nursing Training program at Montgomery County Community College is committed to the preparation of caring professional nurses (RN) who employ critical thinking competencies along with the nursing procedure in fulfilling the human requirements of clients in many different health-care settings. Pupils build competence in the art and also science of nursing within an incorporated curriculum which integrates classroom, seminar, the College Nursing Laboratory, and clinical experiences.

Graduates of this Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), initially NLNAC and Certified Nursing Training program are prepared to sit and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

Montgomery County Community College also referred to as ‘MCCC,’ ‘MontCo,’ or even ‘MC3’ is a two (2) year, community college situated in Blue Bell, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Montgomery County Community College also has two outlet campuses; ‘West,’ Campus in Pottstown, and also ‘Culinary Arts Institute,’ in Lansdale. Montgomery County Community College is certified by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges/Schools. The institution was established in 1964 and offered classes from its campus in Conshohocken. In the year 1972, the school moved to its present site.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Students who wish to be considered for admission to the clinical component of the Nursing Program must present credentials in accordance with the following requirements:

1. Submit a completed College application indicating Nursing as the intended major (Pre-Nursing)
2. Submit high school transcript or GED score. Applicants must have completed work equal to a standard high school course with a minimum of 16 units including:

• 2 units of mathematics (1 of which is algebra, with a grade of “C” or better).
• 2 units of science (1 unit of biology and 1 unit of chemistry with a minimum grade of “C”) with related laboratory or equivalent. Applicants without high school biology and/or chemistry can satisfy this requirement by completing BIO 121 and/or CHE 121 with a grade of “C” or better.

1. In addition, one of the following must also be submitted:

• ACT score composite of a minimum of 18
• SAT score of a minimum of 1000
• College transcript indicating at least eight (8) credits of lab science courses with a minimum grade of “B” in each course and six (6) credits selected from the Nursing curriculum with an overall minimum recalculated grade point average of 2.5.

1. Complete all science courses within 10 years prior to enrollment in the first nursing clinical course, except Anatomy and Physiology I & II, which must be completed within 5 years of enrollment.
2. Take the College’s Placement Tests in English, Mathematics, and Reading and complete any required developmental courses with a grade of “C” or better.
3. Complete the Admission Exam for Nursing (student is responsible for payment of the exam prior to completing the exam). The exam assesses the student’s ability to meet the rigor of the nursing program and assesses the students’ abilities in: math, English, reading, language and science. A minimum score must be obtained for admission. Students may complete the Admission Exam for Nursing a total of two times for each admission cycle. Students may take the exam twice per admission cycle, with a minimum of 30 days between exam attempts.
4. Submit official college transcripts for credit evaluation before registering for any course at the College.
5. Any student interested in transferring to the College’s nursing or pre-nursing program from another academic institution must submit their application and official transcripts by the following dates, students who miss the deadline will need to wait until the following semester to register for classes and/or petition for admission to the nursing program;

Fall Admission- March 1

Spring Admission- August 1

Summer Admission- November 1

2. Students may submit transcripts even if courses are still in progress. Please note that the student must submit an updated transcript with completed course grades no later than one week prior to the course start date. Failure to submit an updated transcript by the course start date will result in the student losing their seat in the class, the student will then need to register for the class the following semester.
3. Transfer students are also required to complete and submit a “Transfer Form”.
