Nursing Program
Montefiore School of Nursing offers a two (2) year, daytime alternative and also an evening/Saturday alternative leading to an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and double admission collaboration with Mercy College leading to a Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN).
With either choice, college students get access to a solid theoretical and also clinically based training program, and graduates leave with the competencies and confidence to provide the community with competent, high-quality nursing care. There are two alternatives: day alternative and also evening/Saturday alternative.
The four sixty (16) week semesters in the day alternative provide the nursing pupil with a weekday routine for attending the lecture, lab and also clinical assignments. The day training program is a dedication of 3 to 4 days weekly, and entails an every week 7:00 am – 4:00 pm weekday clinical requirement. The training program begins yearly in late August (fall semester).

The evening/Saturday alternative is a four evening weekly class. Classes usually start at 6:00 pm; with a Saturday compulsory clinical prerequisite from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pupils may be needed to attend a weekday clinical experience 2 to 3 times each and every semester.
About The School
We have a lengthy and delighted background dating back to 1901 when the institution was founded as part of Mount Vernon Hospital. In 1903, the institution conducted its very first graduation, and in 1906 obtained registration and also accreditation from the University of the State of New York.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Submission of official transcripts from all post secondary (colleges) institutions and schools of nursing attended.
- Submission of official high school transcript or high school equivalency (GED) report with scores and diploma. Applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree will have their high school transcript waived.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better (MISON will internally calculate the GPA) is required based on the completed courses required for the nursing program. GPA will be recalculated prior to enrollment for evening option.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better (DHSON will internally calculate the GPA) is required based on the completed courses required for the nursing program. The GPA will be recalculated prior to enrollment for day option.
- A minimum grade of C+ in all courses.
- Sciences (Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, Microbiology and Nutrition) must be taken within five years of admission.
- The scores on the Entrance Exam are one of the primary factors in determining admission. Upon receipt of all admissions requirements, if required coursework is evident and GPA is 2.70 or higher, an invitation will be sent for the Kaplan Admission Test (KAT).
IT IS ADVISABLE TO TAKE AS MANY LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES COURSES AS POSSIBLE PRIOR TO ENTRY TO REDUCE WORKLOAD.
