Nursing Program
This training program is designed for individuals enthusiastic about performing the responsibilities related to being a Registered Nurse. Graduates are built as starting practitioners in nursing. Graduates meet the criteria for the New York State licensing exam.
This program is endorsed by the NYS Board of Nursing along with the Accrediting Commission Education in Nursing (ACEN). The training program is signed up by the New York State Department of Education and endorsed by the Department of Education’s Office of the Professions.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Minimum
- High school diploma or its equivalent AND The most recent of the following:
- A current overall college grade point average (GPA) of 2.8,
- High school average of 85.
Math
- A minimum SAT math score of 500,
OR
- A minimum ACT math score of 19,
OR
- An appropriate math placement test score at MVCC that will allow the student to enroll in a college level math course,
OR
- A letter grade of “C” or better in MVCC math course MA090, MA091or MA 096 taken within seven (7) years,
OR
- A letter grade of “C” or better in a college level math course (100 level plus) taken within seven (7) years.
Chemistry (required for Anatomy and Physiology 1)
- A high school chemistry, with a lab, and a minimum final grade of “C” (70) taken within seven (7) years,
OR
- A minimum final grade of “C” in both CH111 and CH112 taken within seven (7) years,
OR
- A minimum final grade of “C” in a lab based college level chemistry course higher than CH 111 and CH 112 taken within seven (7) years,
Please note: If you have successfully completed BI216 or BI217 at MVCC with a grade of “C” or higher or completedan approved college level Anatomy and Physiology course taken within seven (7) years at another college, you may be exempt from the Chemistry requirement for consideration of entry in to the Nursing program.
ATI TEAS V TEST
Applicants are required to take the ATI TEAS V test before submitting an application for the nursing program. A minimum adjustedindividualized total score of 58.7 must be achieved on the ATI TEAS V to be considered for the program. The ATI TEAS V must betaken within two (2) years of the application date and can only be taken twice within the two (2) year period.
