Traditional BSN Admission

Traditional BSN students are admitted directly to the School of Nursing as freshmen or as transfer students. Direct admission to the School of Nursing requires a composite ACT score of 20 or equivalent SAT performance, and strong performance on high school science and math coursework. Acceptance of internal and external transfer students into the nursing major will be made based on academic progress and space availability.

RN TO BSN PROGRAM REQUIREMENT

The Millikin University RN to BSN Program builds on students’ prior knowledge and skills. Students must meet all university requirements for a baccalaureate degree. Credit for prior college – level work may be given to meet these requirements. Transcripts from all previous college work are evaluated individually. Registered nurses who have graduated from a state-or nationally-approved associate degree or diploma school of nursing are eligible to apply. Credit is given for upper division courses in mental health nursing, parent-child nursing, and medical-surgical nursing. These hours are banked until other requirements toward graduation are fulfilled and then the 27 hours are applied to the transcript. Students enrolled in the RN-BSN with a GPA of 3.0 or above may have the opportunity to enroll in up to 3 specific courses in the MSN curriculum.  Applicants must maintain unencumbered/unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois throughout the program. Pre-requisites include:

• Undergraduate Statistics -3 credits
• Undergraduate Psychology course-3 credits
• Anatomy & Physiology I (with lab) -4 credits
• Anatomy & Physiology II (with lab) -4 credits
• Microbiology (with lab ) -4 credits
• Undergraduate Chemistry course-4 credits
• Pharmacology course-3 credits (may take proficiency exam)

In addition, international students must submit official transcripts (in English) with an official evaluation of those transcripts by a foreign credentials evaluation agency and proof of English proficiency.
