Nursing Program

The nursing training program in Mid-Plains Community College is built to prepare students for employment as registered nurses. The nursing training program consists of nursing and non-nursing courses. Non-nursing courses can be taken at any Mid-Plains Community College site or transferred from a certified college or university. The training program consists of a concept based nursing syllabus and state-of-the-art simulations to enhance pupil and training program outcomes. Clinical sites will be in local hospitals, long term care amenities and also several other community organizations and clinics.

Graduates have to satisfy the education eligibility prerequisite to take the National Council of State Board of Nursing Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), which satisfies one prerequisite leading to state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Mid-Plains Community College’s ADN training program is endorsed by the Nebraska State Board of Nursing and certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

About the school

Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) was founded resulting from Nebraska legislation enacted in 1973 and also 1975. Three existing, independently established institutions were combined to form Mid-Plains Community College: 1. McCook Junior College (1926), the state’s most ancient two-year college 2. North Platte Junior College (1965) 3. Mid-Plains Vocational Technical School (1967)

All through their separate yet typical backgrounds and continuing through the current, their enduring objective has been changing lives through outstanding learning opportunities for personal student success.

At present, Mid-Plains Community College serves its constituents across the 18-county area through a network of primary campuses in North Platte and McCook and expanded campuses in Broken Bow, Ogallala, Valentine, and Imperial. Furthermore, Mid-Plains Community College reaches pupils through its thriving online campus, the College’s latest “location.” Altogether, approximately 16,000 credit, as well as non-credit pupils, are enlisted yearly.
