Nursing program
Macomb’s Nursing Program, a carefully selective admission program, trains you for the NCLEX and a career as an RN. Your general education and nursing courses are strengthened with directed clinical experience in a hospital or other health care facility. The nursing courses will familiarize you to both patient-centered and theory practice as you discover possible nursing specialties. The student will also understand the framework of the nursing process and will acquire the necessary critical thinking knowledge and skills in caring for families and culturally diverse patients.
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing Program is endorsed by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN)
About the school
Macomb Community College, located in Macomb County, Michigan is a multi-campus learning community which shares borders with Canada and Detroit. The College rates in the top two percent nationally for a number of associate degrees awarded and is endorsed by the Higher Learning Commission.
The College offerings include early college, university transfer, professional certification, continuing education and enrichment, workforce development and through its nationally celebrated University Center, which opened in 1991, bachelor’s degree completion and graduate level programs.
Increasing steadily from its first 84 students that commenced classes on Sept. 16, 1954, at Lincoln High School in Warren, Michigan, Macomb now attends to approximately 48,000 annually.
Macomb has been a famous stop for presidents and has hosted every U.S. president ever since Ronald Reagan at least once, including present President Donald Trump twice in 2016.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0
- Minimum 15 semester hours of credit earned at Macomb
Minimum 62 semester hours of credit courses numbered 1000 or above, which include:
- A minimum 18 semester hours of credit in Arts and Sciences courses numbered 1000 or above, as described in the Group Concentrations table; and
- A minimum of an additional 44 semester hours, including required career preparation and related courses as well as any electives required in the program.
