Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) is a community college situated in the Valley Glen district of Los Angeles, California in the east-central San Fernando Valley, United States Of America. The institution is a part of the Los Angeles Community College District.
The community college is beside Grant High School. Better known as “Valley College” or simply just “Valley” by people who frequent the campus, it commissioned its entrances to the public on September 12, 1949, at which time the campus was situated on the site of Van Nuys High School. The institution relocated to its present location in 1951, a 105-acre site bounded by Ethel Avenue/Coldwater Canyon Boulevard on the east, Fulton Avenue on the west, Burbank Boulevard on the south, and also Oxnard Street on the north.
Los Angeles Valley College is among the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and is a totally authorized by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, which is associated with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, a nationally acknowledged accrediting organization. NURSING
The Los Angeles Valley Nursing Training program is authorized by the National League for Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and endorsed by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CABRN).
The training program accepts applications two times every year for enrollment in the fall (April application period) or spring (September application period) semesters.
Tution cost is USD $9,800
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Submit LAVC College application
- Official high school transcript or GED equivalency
- Complete pre-requisite with a ‘C’ grade or better (with an “Evaluation of Transcripts for Nursing Program Prerequisites” signed by a college counsellor). The pre-requisite courses include: Anatomy or physiology, Microbiology or General Microbiology with laboratory, English 101, Psychology and one college Chemistry course with laboratory, Math 115 or Higher.
- Apply to the Nursing program within the application period
- Submit TEAS V admission examination results
If the number of qualified candidates exceed the number of seats available for entrance into the nursing program a lottery will be used to randomly to select applicants.
All applicants will receive a letter of acceptance or denial from the nursing department after the admission procedure is completed.
Successful applicants must notify the nursing department of acceptance by the posted date or their seat will be offered to the next eligible applicant.
The school does not maintain a waiting list, meaning that all unsuccessful applicants must re-apply for the next application period to be considered again.
