Nursing Program
The ADN curriculum in Kentucky State University is divided into liberal studies, support course, and also Nursing components. The liberal studies and support course components make up roughly one-half of the entire semester credit hours. These courses concentrate on the development of critical competencies in English composition, mathematics, and the acquisition of fundamental knowledge in the biological, behavioral, and also social sciences. The Nursing component focuses on nursing principles and clinical practice.
To fulfill the graduation demands for the Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing, a student must fulfill a minimum of 68 semester credit hours with a grade-point average of 2.0 or much better, complete an extensive Nursing Review, and get a satisfactory score on an extensive exit exam.
The Associate Degree Nursing training program is endorsed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. The Associate Degree Nursing and the RN-BSN programs are authorized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Kentucky State University (KSU) is a public university in Frankfort, Kentucky, United States. Established in 1886 as the State Normal School for Coloured People, Kentucky State University was the 2nd state-supported institution of higher learning in Kentucky. Pupils are split into four colleges, four associate degrees, fifty-five undergraduate degrees and six post-graduate programs.
Kentucky State University became a land-grant college in 1890, and the divisions of home economics, agriculture and mechanics were included in the school’s curriculum. The institution produced its very first graduating class of 5 pupils in the spring of that year.
The University also offers five liberal study degrees via the Whitney Young School of Honors and Liberal Studies, which includes a Honors Program, an Integrative Studies Program and also an International Studies Program. The degrees consist of Africana Studies and also Liberal Studies.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Admitted the University;
- Submit a completed application to the School of Nursing by the due date;
- Provide transcripts of high school coursework and/or any previous college/university coursework;
- Achieve a minimum ACT composite score of 21 earned within the last five years (The Career Planning Program – Level II Test (CPP-2) is not accepted by the School of Nursing);
- Be eligible for ENG 101 and MAT 115 as determined by the University;
- Have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.3 in high school course work and/or a 2.75 in any previous college/university course work taken.
- Pre-Nursing students must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 and must have completed each of the following required courses with a grade of C or better: BIO 107, 108, and 204; ENG 101 and 102; CHE 209; and MAT 115.
