Nursing Program
The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum at James Sprunt Community College provides people with the knowledge and also skills essential to provide nursing care to clients and also groups of customers all through the lifespan in many different functions.
Training courses will include content linked to the nurse’s position as manager of care, as a provider of nursing care, as an associate of the discipline of nursing, and as an associate of the interdisciplinary team.
Graduates of this training program meet the requirements to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) which is necessary for practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). Employment possibilities include hospitals, long-term care amenities, clinics, physician’s offices, industry and also community organizations.
To be able to be considered for admittance into the Associate Degree Nursing Training program, the application must be on file, and all admission requirements fulfilled by February 1st of each and every year for consideration for the following fall semester.

James Sprunt Community College is a community college situated in Kenansville, North Carolina, United States.
Established in the year 1960 as James Sprunt Technical Institute, the school is named after James Menzies Sprunt (1818-1884), a Scottish immigrant who became Presbyterian minister, a teacher, and the longtime pastor of Grove Presbyterian Church in Kenansville.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Complete Current or Updated JSCC school application & designate ADN as major.
- Take the NC-DAP placement test. Call Student Services at 910-296-2500 to register for the test. You must either be exempt from the specific program’s Basic General Education Courses or have completed all of the required Basic General Education Courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher or ‘P’ pass grade, by the deadline to be eligible for admission consideration. The courses include: DRE 096, 097, 098, DMA 010, 020, 030, 040, and 050. Placement testing is waived for applicants with: 1. transferable credit in math and English. You will need to submit official transcripts to the Admissions Office in order to receive a transcript evaluation of your prior college coursework (see step #3 below). You should receive this report in the mail a few weeks after you submit official transcripts. 2. An unweighted high school GPA of 2.6 or higher and four high school maths (from approved list as outlined in Multiple Measures policy) within the last five years. 3. SAT or ACT scores that meet the following criteria: ACT Reading 22 OR ACT English 18, SAT Writing 500 OR
- SAT Reading 500, ACT Math 22 OR SAT Math 500. If placement tests were completed at another college, you will need to request that official scores be sent to our Admissions Office (placement test scores will not be sent with the official transcript unless you specifically request for scores to be sent).
- Submit official transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended, and GED Scores if applicable, to Admissions Office in Strickland Building. If the transcripts are opened, they are not considered as official and will not be accepted.
- Take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), Version V. All students are required to take the TEAS V and score at the current national level for the selected program prior to the February 1st application deadline.
- Complete high school or equivalent college biology course within ten (10) years of the program start date with a minimum grade of ‘C’ or above.
- Complete high school or equivalent chemistry course within ten (10) years of the program start date with a minimum grade of ‘C’ or above.
- Complete high school or equivalent computer applications course within ten (10) years of the program start date with a minimum grade of “C” or above.
