Nursing program

About the school

  • The Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is a public research institution situated in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
  • Belonging to the university systems of both Indiana University and also Purdue University, it is the result of a merger in 1969 of the Purdue Indianapolis Extension Center (1946) and Indiana University Indianapolis (1916). Situated along the White River and also Fall Creek it sits upon a peninsula right next to Downtown Indianapolis.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Earn a 3.0 GPA for the 29-31 credits of required general education coursework that will apply toward the BSN degree.
  • Have an IU cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application to the nursing major.
  • Complete the required courses to achieve a minimum grade of C. The most current grade will be used when a course is repeated for Admission.
  • Repeat no more than two required science/math courses (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Finite Math) to obtain a minimum grade of C.
  • Repeat no more than three of the general education courses (English, Psychology, Sociology, Speech, Arts & Humanities, Cultural Understanding) to obtain a minimum grade of C.
  • Anatomy and Finite Math must be no more than 7 years old at time of application.
  • Take TEAS test through the IUPUI Testing Center.

Accelerated BSN

  • Provide documentation of at least a baccalaureate degree (approximately 120 credits) in which a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale was earned.
  • All transferring course work must have a grade of C (2.0) or higher for each completed required BSN general education course to be considered from a university other than Indiana University. No more than three courses may be repeated in order to meet the minimum required grade of C (2.0). Of the three courses, only two failures will be allowed in required science courses.
  • If any of courses were taken more than seven years prior to the application to the nursing degree, the applicant must validate the related knowledge and competencies through testing, portfolio, or repeating the course to be eligible for admission and progression. Courses that fulfill the requirements for anatomy, human physiology, finite math, microbiology, and statistics are considered to be time limited for individuals pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing.
