The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) training program at Indian Hills Community College builds on the knowledge and abilities obtained during Level I (Practical Nursing). It concentrates on critical thinking, advanced nursing and leadership competencies that are needed to run an acute care clinical area and care for individuals, families or communities with complicated health-care needs. You will receive hands–on training in the classroom and also at guided clinical experiences. It is eight terms (two years) course. Programs are conducted in Ottumwa and also Centerville campuses.
After program completion, you will be qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX–RN) and be Eligible to work as a licensed practical nurse or a registered nurse (RN)

Indian Hills Community College serves both traditional residential students and suburbanite students, primarily from a 10 county area in southeast Iowa and portions of northern Missouri. Indian Hills Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
Indian Hills Community College was created by the consolidation of 3 formerly existing post-secondary education institutions: Iowa Tech-Area XV Community College, Ottumwa Heights College, and Centerville Community College. The very first steps toward merger occurred on June 3, 1966, under the direction of the Iowa Board of Public Instruction, with operations starting on July 1, 1966. Initially referred to as the Iowa Tech Area XV Community College, classes were conducted at the Ottumwa Regional Airport and also consisted of technical programs previously administrated by the Ottumwa public school region. Centerville Community College was included in the fold on July 1, 1968, with a new 72-acre campus completed in 1970. The combined institutions were renamed Indian Hills Community College in the year 1970.
Indian Hills Community College offers on-campus student housing at the major Ottumwa campus along with Centerville campus. The two apartment-style and traditional double occupancy dorm rooms are available. All are non-smoking. Cable television, the Internet and telephone service are provided.
All dormitories are air-conditioned and also laundry amenities are available. A student health and wellness clinic staffed by a Registered Nurse Practitioner is situated in Trustee’s Hall on the major Ottumwa campus.

To be considered for admission to the Associate Degree Nursing-Online/Hybrid Completion program, prospective students must:
(1) Complete an application.
(2) Submit a high school transcript or High School Equivalency Diploma scores and college transcript.
(3) Take one of the following tests: ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER.
(4) In addition you must take the TEAS examination. This process must be completed by March 1 to be considered in the first screening for admission.
Criminal background, drug screening, and dependent adult and child abuse record checks are required prior to beginning any clinical courses.
