Nursing program
The aim of the Associate in Applied Science LPN to RN Completion program at Illinois Central College is to provide educational resources within theory, clinical and laboratory experiences to equip graduates for a flourishing, professional nursing career as registered nurses RN. The Nursing program has the full approval of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and full accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Successful graduates are entitled to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and can apply for licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurses (RN).
About the school
Illinois Central College is a large community college with its main campus in East Peoria, Illinois, off U.S. Route 24 near U.S. Route 150/Illinois State Route 116 and the McClugage Bridge. Its district, Illinois Community College District 514, is a 2,322-square-mile area covering most of Tazewell, Peoria, and Woodford counties and parts of Marshall, Bureau, Logan, Stark, Livingston, McLean, and Mason counties.
ICC offers 69 transferable Associate in Sciences and Arts programs, 104 occupational Certificate programs, and 84 Associate in Applied Science programs. Over 3,300 classes are offered every semester, and the standard class size is 14.
It has the educational accreditation of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which is responsible for the accreditation of most of the colleges and universities in the western United States.
The total academic price and living expense for in-district residents to go to ICC is $12,450. The total cost for in-state, but not in district residents is $17,100. Out-of-state students who don’t possess Illinois residence can expect a one year cost of $18,450. Students residing at home with parents providing food and housing can expect a total cost of $9,900.
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Graduation from state-approved Practical Nursing Program within the last five years OR achievement of a conversion score of 75% or higher on the Evolve HESI PN-AND Exam.
Valid Illinois Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license.
Currently employed full time or equivalent as an LPN OR departmental approval.
One year of high school chemistry with a grade of “C” average or higher OR completion of an equivalent college chemistry course with a grade of “C” or better.
Completion of BIOL 205, BIOL 206, BIOL 210, RNRS 150, RNRS 111, RNRS 210 with a grade of “C” or better.
Completion of ENGL 110, COMM 110, PSY 110, SOC 110, FCS 110 or FCS 120, HLTH 121, Humanities elective (3 sem hrs), with a grade of “C” or better.
ICC grade point average (GPA) of a 2.5 or above (if you have attended ICC).
GPA of 2.5 or above at the last college attended (other than ICC) OR completion of 18 credit hours of “program” courses at ICC or other colleges with a grade of “C” or better.
Requirements upon Program Acceptance:
Drug screen, fingerprint criminal background check, physical exam, and immunizations.
Documentation of current CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider (HLTH 041 at ICC or equivalent) or American Red Cross (ARC) Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider.
CPR certification must remain current throughout the program.
Recommended High School Subjects: (1) four years of English (2) one year biology (3) two years of mathematics (4) one year of chemistry.
